Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency in a Patient with Metastatic Melanoma Treated with Nivolumab.

We report a case of secondary adrenal insufficiency due to nivolumab. An 83-year-old man with acral lentiginous types of melanoma on the right sole visited our department in March 2017. He received primary surgery at referred hospital in June 2017, and pathological stage was IIIC (pT3bN3M0) according to AJCC (American Joint Committee on Cancer) 7th edition criteria.

Isolation of adipose tissue-derived stem cells by direct membrane migration and expansion for clinical application.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have recently made significant progression in multiple clinical trials targeting several clinical disorders and in the modulation of immune responses. In the present study, we isolated human adipose tissue-derived stem cells (ADSCs) by direct membrane migration method without using enzymatic digestion via collagenase, and tried to extract adequate number of cells for clinical application. Hydroxyapatite-treated nonwoven fabric membrane made up of synthetic macromolecular fiber materials, polyethylene and polyester terephthalene was used.

Ex vivo-expanded highly purified natural killer cells in combination with temozolomide induce antitumor effects in human glioblastoma cells in vitro.

Glioblastoma is the leading malignant glioma with a poor prognosis. This study aimed to investigate the antitumor effects of natural killer cells in combination with temozolomide as the standard chemotherapeutic agent for glioblastoma. Using a simple, feeder-less, and chemically defined culture method, we expanded human peripheral blood mononuclear cells and assessed the receptor expression, natural killer cell activity, and regulatory T cell frequency in expanded cells.
