Cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea associated with meningoencephalocele is usually treated surgically. During the perioperative period, cerebrospinal fluid diversion may be employed to control intracranial pressure, but there are few indications for this method. A 51-year-old female presented with cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea associated with meningoencephalocele and underwent surgical repair followed by the placement of a lumboperitoneal shunt.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers have recently explored using staged flow diverters for treating ruptured cerebral aneurysms, performing coil embolization first, followed by flow diversion later.
  • The study highlights a novel approach that uses vessel wall MRI to identify the aneurysm's rupture point before the staged procedure, which hasn't been documented before.
  • A case report shows this method successfully occluded a large, partly thrombosed aneurysm, repaired the parent artery, and preserved the blood flow to the nearby posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA).

Background: Craniopharyngioma (CP) often arises in the sellar and suprasellar areas; ectopic CP in the posterior fossa is rare. Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is a genetic disorder involving the formation of numerous adenomatous polyps in the gastrointestinal tract, and it is associated with other extraintestinal manifestations.

Observations: The authors reported the case of a 63-year-old woman with FAP who presented with headache and harbored a growing mass in the fourth ventricle.
