Coexistence of benign phyllodes tumor and invasive ductal cancer in the ipsilateral breast: A case report.

Introduction And Importance: Phyllodes tumors (PTs) are rare breast neoplasms, with an incidence rate of <1 %. Further, the coexistence of PTs and carcinoma is also uncommon. In this report, we describe a rare case of the synchronous coexistence of a benign PT and invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) of the ipsilateral breast.

Carcinosarcoma of the breast: A case of breast conservation surgery and breast reconstruction.

Breast carcinosarcoma is an extremely rare, clinically aggressive tumor, and no standard treatment has been established. We report about a 34-year-old woman presenting with a 2.5-cm-sized carcinosarcoma in her right breast.

PI3K/Akt/mTOR signalling pathway activation in patients with ER-positive, metachronous, contralateral breast cancer treated with hormone therapy.

Oestrogen receptor (ER)-positive, metachronous, contralateral breast cancer (MCBC) sometimes develops during or soon after completion of hormone therapy (HT), but it is uncertain whether it is HT-resistant. We examined the association between ER-positive second cancer and activation of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways, which are associated with HT resistance. We examined the treatment-free interval (time after completion of HT for initial cancer) in 41 patients with ER-positive MCBC with a history of adjuvant HT for initial cancer (HT group), and initial-to-second period duration (time after operation of initial cancer to onset of second cancer) in 17 patients with ER-positive MCBC in whom adjuvant HT was not applied to the initial tumour (control group or no HT group).

Response to First-line Recurrence Treatment Influences Survival in Hormone Receptor-positive, HER2-negative Breast Cancer: A Multicenter Study.

Background/aim: Little evidence is currently available on significant determinants of post-recurrence survival for patients with hormone receptor-positive (HR+), HER2-negative (HER2-) breast cancer. The objective of this study was to evaluate factors influencing post-recurrence survival in HR+/HER2-breast cancer.

Patients And Methods: A cohort of 236 patients with recurrent HR+/HER2- breast cancer was retrospectively analyzed to identify significant factors correlating with prognosis after recurrence.

[A Case of Collision Tumor of Gastric Malignant Lymphoma and Gastric Cancer].

A 71-year-old man with anemia, weight loss, and loss of appetite was admitted. Ultrasound examination found thickening of the wall of the stomach. A type 3 gastric tumor was detected in the greater curvature of the gastric corpus via upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Primary diffuse large B cell lymphoma of the common bile duct causing obstructive jaundice.

We report a rare case of a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) arising from the common bile duct (CBD). A 77-year old man presented with general fatigue and obstructive jaundice. Abdominal computed tomography revealed a well-circumscribed enhancing mass in the midportion of the CBD with proximal bile duct dilatation.

Management of granulomatous mastitis: a series of 13 patients who were evaluated for treatment without corticosteroids.

Granulomatous mastitis (GM) is a rare chronic inflammatory breast condition with unknown etiology. There is still no generally accepted optimal treatment for GM. Corticosteroid treatment and/or wide excision is most commonly reported in the literature.

Comparison of gastric cancer surgery between patients aged >80 years and <79 years: complications and multivariate analysis of prognostic factors.

Background/aims: To evaluate the clinicopathological features and results of surgery for gastric cancer in elderly patients aged ˃80 years relative to those aged ˂79 years, and to recommend the appropriate surgical treatment for elderly patients.

Methodology: A total of 332 patients with gastric cancer who underwent gastrectomy in our department between 2002 and 2012 were evaluated. Of these, 81 were aged ˃80 years (Group A) and 251 were aged ˂79 years (Group B).
