For medical emergencies, such as acute ischemic stroke, rapid drug delivery to the target site is essential. For many small molecule drugs, this goal is unachievable due to poor solubility that prevents intravenous administration, and less obviously, by extensive partitioning to plasma proteins and red blood cells (RBCs), which greatly slows delivery to the target. Here we study these effects and how they can be solved by loading into nanoscale drug carriers.

Introduction: Hybrid total laparoscopic hysterectomy combines conventional laparoscopic surgery and robot-assisted devices: the camera and assistant forceps are operated by a robotic device, whereas the surgeon performs laparoscopic procedures, enabling surgery with a completely fixed field of view and significantly reducing errors in forceps grasping and needle misalignment. Here, we examined whether using two arms of the Hugo™ robot-assisted surgery system, one for the camera and one for the assistant, would improve surgical accuracy compared with conventional total laparoscopic hysterectomy.

Materials And Surgical Technique: The surgical system reduced surgeon errors in grasping the forceps during training and stabilized forceps operation.

We aimed to elucidate the mechanism underlying carcinogenesis by comparing normal and BRCA1/2-mutated ovarian epithelial cells established via Sendai virus-based immortalization. Ovarian epithelial cells (normal epithelium: Ovn; with germline BRCA1 mutation: OvBRCA1; with germline BRCA2 mutation: OvBRCA2) were infected with Sendai virus vectors carrying three immortalization genes (Bmi-1, hTERT, and SV40T). The immunoreactivity to anti-epithelial cellular adhesion molecule (EpCAM) antibodies in each cell line and cells after 25 passages was confirmed using flow cytometry.

The heterogeneous loss of HO radicals onto ambient aerosols plays an important role in tropospheric chemistry. However, sparse investigation of the dominating parameters controlling the HO uptake coefficients onto ambient aerosols (γHO) has largely hindered the application of the measured γHO to the global spatial prediction. Here we induced an offline method using LFP-LIF technique to measure the kinetics of HO uptake onto ambient aerosols collected in summertime and wintertime in Yokohama city, a regional urban site near Tokyo, Japan.

Patients with recurrent cervical cancer have limited treatment options and are often considered to be incurable. Since the expression of amphoterin-induced gene and open reading frame 2 (AMIGO2) in clinical samples is a prognostic factor for colorectal cancer and gastric cancer, the present aimed to elucidate whether it is also a prognostic factor for cervical cancer. Patients with primary cervical cancer who underwent radical hysterectomy or radical trachelectomy at our institution (Faculty of Medicine, Tottori University, Yonago, Japan) between September 2005 and October 2016 were retrospectively collected.
