[Two cases of esophageal fistula, in which a fibrin glue preparation was effective].

Two successful cases of endoscopic therapy for esophageal fistula are reported herein. The first case was a 61-year-old man who underwent irradiation, chemotherapy and endoscopic laser beam therapy for esophageal cancer (Im T4N0M0 Stage III). Gastrografin -esophagogram revealed a fistula between esophagus and mediastinum after these therapy.

[Efficacy of tonsillectomy for improving skin lesions of Pustulosis palmaris et plantaris--evaluation of 289 cases at the Department of Otolaryngology of Sapporo Medical University].

In recent years, Pustulosis palmaris et plantaris (PPP) has been described as one of the representative second lesions of focal tonsillitis in Japan. We selected 289 cases of PPP, treated with bilateral tonsillectomy at our department over the past 12 years for this clinical evaluation. In 211 of those 289 tonsillectomy cases, follow-up was done for more than 3 months after operation.

[Analysis of Epstein-Barr virus-specific cellular cytotoxicity in tonsillar lymphocytes].

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-specific cytotoxic activities of tonsillar lymphocytes (TL) and peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) obtained from the 26 same donors were investigated. The minimum cell concentration of TL required for regression of EBV-transformation, 3.1 +/- 2.

Lethal midline granuloma (peripheral T-cell lymphoma) after lymphomatoid papulosis.

A Japanese woman with an 8-year history of lymphomatoid papulosis (LP) had lethal midline granuloma (LMG) develop at the age of 51 years. There were histologic similarities between LP and LMG seen in this patient. Surface phenotypic studies on nasal and cutaneous lesions demonstrated a population of T-cells expressing CD2, CD4, CD25, CD30, and histocompatibility antigen-DR (HLA-DR).

[Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor producing lung large cell carcinoma with sarcomatous transformation].

We report a case of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) producing lung large cell carcinoma with sarcomatous transformation. A 57-year-old man was admitted for evaluation of an abnormal shadow near the right pulmonary hilus on chest X-ray film. Brush cytology specimen from right B6 disclosed large cell carcinoma.

[A case of systemic arterial supply to normal lung without sequestrated lung].

A 19-year-old man was admitted to our hospital because of bloody sputum. His chest radiograph showed funicular shadows adjacent to the descending aorta in the left lower lobe and absence of vascular structures in the lower portion of the left hilum. His chest CT showed increased vascularity and slightly increased parenchymal density in the left basal segments.

[Postoperative brain metastasis from esophageal carcinomas: report of 4 cases].

Out of 83 cases received resection of primary esophageal lesion, 4 patients were affected by metastatic brain tumor which was reported to rarely occur. All 4 patients had symptoms of central nervous system. Three of them were diagnosed by CT and the other one at autopsy.

Multiple dural arteriovenous malformations. Report of two cases.

Two cases of multiple dural arteriovenous malformations (AVM's) in different locations are reported. One patient was diagnosed as having a dural AVM involving the right cavernous sinus that disappeared spontaneously 4 months after onset of symptoms. After an interval of 4 months, another dural AVM appeared involving the right lateral sinuses (transverse and sigmoid sinuses) with occlusion of the right sigmoid sinus.

[Evaluation of endoscopic local injection of hypertonic saline- epinephrine solution and surgical treatment on hemorrhagic gastroduodenal ulcer].

For the purpose of arresting hemorrhage from gastric and duodenal ulcer we developed a method of endoscopic local injection of hypertonic saline-epinephrine solution (HSE), consisting of 625mEq/L or 1,250mEq/L sodium chloride with 0.05mg/ml epinephrine. During the period between October 1978 and March 1988, a total 246 patients with peptic ulcers underwent treatment for hemostasis by this method.

[Development of a system for monitoring the production of leukotriene B4, C4, D4 and E4 in whole blood of pediatric asthmatic patients].

We have developed a new method using a computerized photodiode-array spectrophotometer (CPAS), to characterize the biosynthesis and the inhibition of leukotriene (LT) B4, C4, D4 and E4 in calcium ionophore (Ca-I)-stimulated whole blood. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The use of CPAS enabled us to identify and measure LTs from 2 ml volume of Ca-I stimulated whole blood as well as to check the purity of LTs, without any use of radioimmunoassay or bioassay.

[Deep sylvian meningioma: case report and review of the literature].

A case of intrasylvian meningioma is presented with some considerations to the clinical, radiological, and pathological features of the tumor. A 34-year-old Japanese woman, who had experienced several episodes of fainting attacks since 19 years old, was admitted to our hospital on March 22, 1983. Her plain skull roentgenogram showed abnormal calcification in her left fronto-temporal region.

[Endoscopic resection with local injection of HSE (ERHSE) in early gastric carcinomas].

We have developed a new therapeutic method of endoscopic resection with local injection of HSE (ERHSE) for the early gastric carcinomas. ERHSE was performed for a total of seventy eight lesions of seventy five cases. Seventy eight early gastric carcinomas consisted of IIc (35), IIa (32), I (6), IIa + IIc (4) and IIc + IIa (1).

[Localized fibrous malignant peritoneal mesothelioma in an operated patient with massive hemorrhage to the peritoneal cavity].

We reported an operated patient with localized peritoneal mesothelioma. The patient was a 39-year-old man who had occasionally complained of left hypochondralgia for 5 years before admission. Progressive anemia due to hemorrhage into the peritoneal cavity was noted after admission.
