Background: Platelet concentrates (PCs) are a boon in the field of dentistry. Various generations of PCs have been tried and utilized in different treatment methods, such as intrabony defect therapy, root coverage procedures, oral surgical procedures, and palatal wound healing. Titanium-prepared platelet-rich fibrin (T-PRF) is a third-generation PC that is prepared in medical-grade titanium tubes and achieves good healing in the field of periodontics.

Methods: The study included 192 teeth from 17 individuals, of which 64 teeth underwent crown lengthening (Treated site- TS) and 128 of which shared a proximal surface (Adjacent site -AS, Non-Adjacent site- NAS) with the surgery site. The clinical parameters Plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), gingival margin position (PGM), relative attachment level (RAL), bone sounding (BS), biological width (BW), and probing depth (PD) were recorded.
Aims And Objectives: Psychological conditions, particularly psychosocial stress, have been implicated as risk indicators for periodontal disease. The aim of the present study was to explore the role of psychosocial stress on periodontium through questionnaire and serum cortisol level.
Subjects And Methods: Two hundred medical and dental undergraduates were recruited for the study.
Background: Bacteria and their products involved in periodontitis evoke an immunoinflammatory response in the host tissue. Inflammatory diseases, such as periodontitis, are often not just a local event, but may have systemic ramifications, including elevations in the numbers of circulating leukocytes, acute-phase proteins and oxidative stress markers. It is now emerging that also erythrocytes are affected by chronic inflammatory diseases.

Background: Adverse pregnancy outcome is due to deviation from the normal physiological and immunological process. There is conflicting evidence in support of maternal periodontitis as a risk factor for preterm low birth weight (PTLBW). Thus, the aim of the present study is to evaluate the correlation between PTLBW and periodontitis in postpartum mothers based on clinical and microbiological parameters.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTreatment for receding gums is always a challenging task for a periodontist. To fulfill this, many surgical techniques such as free gingival grafts, connective tissue grafts, pedicle flaps, and lateral sliding flaps have been used. For better prevention of relapse of these procedures and to improve the gingival biotype, various biomaterials such as platelet-rich fibrin, collagen matrix, and amnion chorion membranes have been additionally utilized.

Many generation of platelet concentrates were used, but research regarding advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF) regarding periodontal treatment is scanty.
Aim: The purpose of the study was to evaluate and compare PRF and A-PRF in the treatment of human periodontal infrabony defects (IBDs) both clinically and radiographically.
Various treatment modalities, such as leucocyte platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF), bone grafts, and membranes, have been used for the restoration of lost periodontal tissues. Titanium-prepared platelet-rich fibrin (T-PRF) has attracted attention for its proper haemocompatibility, thick fibrin meshwork, and long resorption time. The present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of T-PRF and L-PRF in the management of intra-bony defects based on clinical and radiographic criteria.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is the most sensitive staining technique for the identification and localization of specific cells. There are few studies in the available literature which use IHC to compare PRF prepared from titanium and silica glass tubes.

These scalers use water as a coolant which is splattered during the vibration of the tip. The splatter when mixed with saliva and plaque of the patients causes the aerosol highly infectious and acts as a major risk factor for transmission of the disease.

The aim of this study was to compare the treatment time for the extraction space closure, between corticotomy assisted and conventional orthodontic tooth movement and to check the alveolar bone thickness before and after corticotomy procedure in the corticotomy group.
Settings And Design: Cross-sectional clinical study.
Background: Doxycycline has been advocated as useful adjuncts in periodontal therapy not only due to their antimicrobial actions, but also to their recently recognized anti-collagenolytic, anti-inflammatory, osteoclast inhibitory and fibroblast stimulating property. The purpose of the present cohort study was to evaluate the regenerative outcomes of bone graft with or without local doxycycline in non-contained infrabony periodontal defects.
Materials And Methods: 16 one or two wall infrabony defects, in 11 patients suffering from moderate to severe chronic periodontitis, aged 35-60 years, were randomly divided for bone graft, alone (control) and with doxycycline (test) for the study.
Macfarlane Burnett stated in 1962 that "By the late twentieth century, we can anticipate the virtual elimination of infectious diseases as a significant factor in social life". Probiotics have become of interest to researchers in recent times. Time has come to shift the paradigm of treatment from specific bacteria elimination to altering bacterial ecology by probiotics.
