Photoinduced metal-to-ligand (or ligand-to-metal) charge-transfer (CT) states in metal complexes have been extensively studied toward the development of luminescent materials. However, previous studies have mainly focused on CT transitions between d- and π-orbitals. Herein, we report the demonstration of CT emission from 4f- to π-orbitals using a trivalent europium (Eu(III)) complex, supported by both experimental and theoretical analyses.

Materials And Methods: Eleven adults from diverse backgrounds were recruited and asked to feed a baby doll using a bottle feeder with a long nipple, and their actions were recorded. Then, they watched a 2.
Background: Patients with hallux valgus (HV) may develop metatarsalgia, which is partly attributed to second metatarsal relative length (RL2M). However, no study has analyzed RL2Ms measured by various methods as predictors for metatarsalgia in HV patients. This study aimed to investigate the predictors for metatarsalgia in HV patients and calculate the cutoff values for metatarsalgia in preoperative planning for lesser metatarsal shortening osteotomy.

In total, 9,324 subjects (males: 4,532, females: 4,792) visited the Takagi Hospital for medical checkups in 2019. Eighty-two subjects (59 males) whose fasting blood glucose exceeded 126 mg/dl for the first time during the annual or biannual follow-up were included.

Summary: Over the past decade, there has been a paradigm shift toward cold polypectomy for the removal of small lesions (<10 mm), known as the "cold revolution". In recent years, underwater endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) has emerged as an alternative to conventional EMR and has been gaining popularity for resection of intermediate and large-sized lesions (≥10 mm).
Background/objectives: This study aimed to identify the P-bottle feeding techniques systematically organized by Ms. Kumagai, an expert in nursing care for children with a cleft lip and/or palate (CLP), which were developed as she gained expertise in feeding affected children.
Methods: We recruited three nurses who had mastered the Kumagai method for feeding with a P-bottle.
The discovery and elucidation of the surface microstructure functions of living organisms are crucial to resolving issues, such as friction. We newly discovered that , a type of carrion beetle that lives on the ground surface, exhibited a hierarchical surface microstructure comprising a submicron-sized wrinkle structure on top of a micron-sized microstructure. The surface microstructure of this beetle improved wettability but did not exhibit superhydrophobicity, a well-known function of hierarchical structures, so it was expected to have a different function.

Cytokines play an important role in the pathogenesis of UC, and therapies targeting specific cytokines have been successful in treating refractory UC. The purpose of this study was to measure mucosal cytokines in UC and identify those that contribute to non-relapsing mucosal healing diagnosed by endoscopy.

We aimed to determine whether the use of urgent CE-CT improves identification of stigmata of recent hemorrhage (SRH) in subsequently performed early colonoscopy (≤24 h of arrival) or other clinical outcomes of CDB.
Methods: We conducted a randomized, open-label, controlled trial at 23 institutions in Japan.
Cases involving both the induced membrane technique and intramedullary beaming are generally rare. Here, we report such a case in an 83-year-old man who suffered from left midfoot pain. Pyogenic arthritis was suspected based on clinical findings, and curettage was performed, revealing an extensive bone defect.

We assessed metabolic responses using 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) before and after neoadjuvant treatment to explore its surrogacy for pathological complete response (pCR). We describe three patients with squamous cell lung carcinoma who underwent neoadjuvant therapy with nivolumab plus chemotherapy, followed by surgery.

For the 3n experiment, we have newly developed a thick Ti-^{3}H target that has the largest tritium thickness among targets of this type ever made. The 3n experiment for the first time covered the momentum-transfer region as low as 15 MeV/c, which provides ideal conditions for producing fragile systems.

She initially developed acute type B aortic dissection at the age of 44 years. Five years later, her dissected descending aorta was enlarged to 54 mm; thus, the descending aorta was replaced as the first surgery.

Methods: A simulation education program was implemented for 21 novice nurses. Surveys were conducted on program satisfaction, learning, and clinical judgment skills before, immediately after, and two months after the program.
Although physical stability can be a critical issue during the development of amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs), there are no established protocols to predict/detect their physical stability. In this study, we have prepared fenofibrate ASDs using two representative manufacturing methods, hot-melt extrusion and spray-drying, to investigate their physical stability for one year. Intentionally unstable ASDs were designed to compare the detection power of each evaluation method, including X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and dissolution study.

In this report, we demonstrate that high-capacity hybrid supercapacitors can be realized by utilizing iron azaphthalocyanine (FeAzPc-4N) adsorbed activated carbons (ACs) as an electrode due to the combination of the electric double layer of activated carbon surfaces and redox reactions of FeAzPc-4N molecules. By increasing the mixing ratio of FeAzPc-4N with ACs, a maximum capacity of 907 F/g is achieved, also enabling rapid charging and discharging at 20 A/g. The revelation of the capacitor electrode's durability through 20 000 cycles of charging and discharging is realized, and the capacitor cell had sufficient output power to illuminate LEDs.
