The development of hole-collecting materials is indispensable to improving the performance of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). To date, several anchorable molecules have been reported as effective hole-collecting monolayer (HCM) materials for p-i-n PSCs. However, their structures are limited to well-known electron-donating skeletons, such as carbazole, triarylamine, etc.

Here, we report an anchorable HCM composed of a triazatruxene core connected with three alkyl carboxylic acid groups (). In contrast to the phosphonic acid-containing tripodal analog (), molecules can form a hydrophilic monolayer on a transparent conducting oxide surface, which is beneficial for subsequent perovskite film deposition in the traditional layer-by-layer fabrication process.

Background/aims: Amitriptyline is prescribed off-label for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). We conducted a meta-analysis to assess its efficacy.
Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted until November 10, 2023, using MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science to study the efficacy of amitriptyline in patients with IBS.
Topic: evaluation of clinical outcomes of patients with retinoblastoma treated with intravitreal chemotherapy (IvitC).
Design: Systematic review and single-arm meta-analysis CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Clinical outcomes with IVitC vary across reports according to patient characteristics and concomitant treatment modalities, mainly intravenous chemotherapy (IVC) and intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC). There are currently no large clinical trials or meta-analyses focusing on the topic.

Background: Surgical site infection (SSI) remains a challenge in healthcare, contributing to prolonged hospital stays, increased healthcare costs, and adverse patient outcomes, including mortality. Effective preoperative skin disinfection interventions, such as povidone-iodine (PVI) and chlorhexidine (CHG), are widely used but their efficacy remains debated. To address this gap, this meta-analysis aims to evaluate the efficacy of PVI and CHG.

Although DC-based therapies are known to activate tumor-specific T cells, the interplay between DCs and NK cells in this setting is not fully understood. In this study, we demonstrated a novel TLR7/ mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mROS)/IL-12 axis that drives potent NK cell responses against tumors.

Cisplatin, a platinum derivative, has been used as a therapeutic option for treating metastatic NSCLC for several years. However, acquired, or intrinsic drug resistance to Cisplatin is the major obstacle to the successful treatment outcome of patients.

Hole-collecting monolayers have greatly advanced the development of positive-intrinsic-negative perovskite solar cells (p-i-n PSCs). To date, however, most of the anchoring groups in the reported monolayer materials are designed to bind to the transparent conductive oxide (TCO) surface, resulting in less availability for other functions such as tuning the wettability of the monolayer surface. In this work, we developed two anchorable molecules, 4PATTI-C3 and 4PATTI-C4, by employing a saddle-like indole-fused cyclooctatetraene as a π-core with four phosphonic acid anchoring groups linked through propyl or butyl chains.

Pain poses a potential obstacle to effective laser delivery and patient compliance. Therefore, implementing pain relief strategies can enhance both treatment efficacy and patient comfort.

However, refractive surgery is not usually performed with prophylactic CXL. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis comparing outcomes of refractive surgeries with vs without prophylactic CXL.

These aspects are explored with the aim of identifying current practices and potential gaps which may contribute to more trauma-informed biomarker-based research approaches.
Method: The perspectives of experts were explored through semi-structured interviews with seven participants; these individuals represented trauma research, clinical practice, and trauma-informed physical activity domains.
A previous paper has demonstrated a statistically significant moderate correlation between the number of citations obtained from PubMed and a Delphi study for 251 anatomical structures of the Head and Neck region, suggesting that clinical significance is a major driver of research involving anatomical structures. This raises the possibility that these ranks could be an objective measure of clinical relevance of individual anatomical structures. In the present study, we revisited the rankings of the PubMed results from the previous paper and compared it with a Delphi study for 450 musculoskeletal structures.

Out of many modalities, Photoacoustics (PA) offers real time information noninvasively from deep lying blood vessels since Hb is the strongest chromophore in mammalian blood and the PA response of blood varies with the amount of Hb present. During hemolysis, total Hb content in blood however remains unchanged, thus, questions the use of PA in hemolysis detection.

Since molecules in the hole-collecting monolayer are typically composed of functionalized π-conjugated structures, hole extraction is expected to be more efficient when the π-cores are oriented face-on with respect to the adjacent surfaces. However, strategies for reliably controlling the molecular orientation in monolayers remain elusive.

We developed ZnO-assisted 1393 bioactive glass-based scaffold with suitable mechanical properties through foam replica technique and observed to be suitable for bone tissue engineering application. However, the developed scaffolds' ability to facilitate cellular infiltration and integration was further assessed through in vivo studies in suitable animal model. Herein, the pure 1393 bioactive glass (BG) and ZnO-assisted 1393 bioactive glass- (ZnBGs; 1, 2, 4 mol% ZnO substitution for SiO in pure BG is named as Z1BG, Z2BG, Z3BG, respectively) based scaffolds were prepared through sol-gel route, followed by foam replica techniques and characterized by a series of in vitro and some in vivo tests.

In clinical practice, major efforts are underway to identify appropriate drug combinations to boost anticancer activity while suppressing unwanted adverse effects. In this regard, we evaluated the efficacy of combination treatment with the widely used chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin along with the TGFβRI inhibitor galunisertib (LY2157299) in aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL). The antiproliferative effects of these drugs as single agents or in combination against several B-NHL cell lines and the synergism of the drug combination were evaluated by calculating the combination index.
