Light-Sheet Microscopy Enables Three-Dimensional Fluorescence Imaging and Live Imaging of Satellite Cells on Skeletal Muscle Fibers.

The ex vivo myofiber culture system has proven to be a useful methodology to explore the biology and behavior of satellite cells within their niche environment. However, a limitation of this system is that myofibers and their associated satellite cells are commonly examined using conventional fluorescence microscopy, which renders a three-dimensional system into two-dimensional imaging, leading to the loss of precious information or misleading interpretation of observations. Here, we report on the use of light-sheet fluorescence microscopy to generate three-dimensional and live imaging of satellite cells on myofibers.

Introduction: Literature searches are routinely used by researchers for conducting systematic reviews as well as by healthcare providers, and sometimes patients, to quickly guide their clinical decisions. Using more than one database is generally recommended but may not always be necessary for some fields. This study aimed to determine the added value of searching additional databases beyond MEDLINE when conducting a literature search of hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HBOT) randomised controlled trials (RCTs).

Challenging times have put organizations in a perilous and chaotic state that demands immediate resolution and calls for effective leadership to help navigate out of the crisis. In this context, we focused on psychosocial safety climate theory to investigate the influence of adaptive leadership on safety citizenship behaviors by looking at the mediating effect of readiness to change and the moderating impact of psychosocial safety climate and proactive personality, particularly in the Pakistani healthcare sector. To test the hypotheses, the data were collected from 397 employees working in the healthcare sector of Pakistan at two different times.

Background Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) have a negative impact on health outcomes. Using a cross-sectional study design, our objective was to identify the prevalence of ACEs among residents of South Bronx and the increased relationship between such childhood stressors and the prevalence of both chronic disease and modifiable high-risk behavior in adulthood. Methods We recruited patients from a hospital-based, adult primary care clinic in the metropolitan area of the South Bronx.

Here we systematically analysed the effects of nine mammalian filovirus VP24 proteins on interferon (IFN)-induced immune response. We transiently expressed Ebola, Bombali, Bundibugyo, Reston, Sudan and Taï Forest ebolavirus (EBOV, BOMV, BDBV, RESTV, SUDV, TAFV, respectively), Lloviu virus (LLOV), Mengla dianlovirus (MLAV) and Marburgvirus (MARV) VP24 proteins and analysed their ability to inhibit IFN-α-induced activation of myxovirus resistance protein 1 (MxA) and interferon-induced transmembrane protein 3 (IFITM3) promoters.

The goal of this study was to evaluate O-Ext against oxidative stress, prepare O-Ext-loaded nano-lipid carriers (O-NLCs), and load them into topical O/W-emulsion (O-NLC-E) to improve O-Ext permeation and its in vivo antiaging effects.

Development of Hemagglutinin-Neuraminidase Homologous Peptides as Novel Promising Therapeutic Agents Against Peste des Petits Ruminants Virus.

The lack of specific antiviral therapy and complications associated with the existing peste des petits ruminants (PPR) vaccines accentuates the search of novel antiviral blocking agents in order to curtail the PPR infection at initial level. The synthetic hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) homologous peptides may compete with the natural HN protein of PPR virus for binding to signaling lymphocytic activation molecule (SLAM) receptor, consequently, may disrupt peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) at entry level. Therefore, insilico analysis, synthesis, purification and subsequent characterization of HN homologous peptides were conducted in this study.

Infant & Child Mortality in Pakistan and its Determinants: A Review.

Over the years, several developing countries have been suffering from high infant and child mortality rates, however, according to the recent statistics, Pakistan falls high on the list. Our narrative review of copious research on this topic highlights that several factors, such as complications associated with premature births, high prevalence of birth defects, lack of vaccination, unsafe deliveries, poor breastfeeding practices, complications during delivery, sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), poor socioeconomic conditions, and a struggling healthcare system, have influenced these rates. Bearing in mind the urgency of addressing the increased infant and child mortality rate in Pakistan, multiple steps must be taken in order to prevent unnecessary deaths.

Background Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is one of the most common types of cutaneous malignancies and the most frequently occurring form of cancer worldwide. The incidence of basal cell carcinoma is difficult to determine due to its wide geographic variations; however, it has been increasing worldwide with an annual increase of 7% in the number of reported cases. Although BCC is more prevalent in the aging population, diagnosis in younger individuals is steadily increasing.

Synchronous pleomorphic adenoma in parotid gland and parapharyngeal space: a case report and literature review.

Synchronous pleomorphic adenoma in the parotid gland and parapharyngeal space are rare. We report a case of simultaneous pleomorphic adenoma in parotid gland and parapharyngeal space in a 65-year-old male presenting to the ENT outpatient department at Northwest General Hospital, Peshawar. The patient presented with a left parotid lump, intra oral examination of which revealed the left palatine tonsil to have been pushed medially.
