Background: This study examines the relationship between the anterior offset of the tibial intramedullary nail (TIN) entry point and the tibial shaft axis to enhance the fit and alignment of TINs, using transparent 3D-CT in an accurate lateral view to minimize rotational artifacts.

Methods: Data were collected from 100 adult patients undergoing tibial CT scans. Measurements included the anterior offset from the tibial axis to the entry point, tibial tubercle offset, tibial plateau length, posterior slope, tibial length, isthmus diameter, and the isthmus-to-tibial length ratio.

Cord blood (CB)-derived chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-natural killer (NK) cells targeting CD19 have been shown to be effective against B cell malignancies. While human CD56 NK cells can be expanded , NK cells can also be differentiated from hematopoietic progenitor cells. It is still unclear whether CAR-NK cells originate from mature NK cells or NK progenitor cells in CB.

Background: Understanding environmental correlates of sedentary behaviour (SB) among young people is important as such data can identify approaches to limit sedentary time. This paper estimates associations of parent-reported neighbourhood and adolescent-reported home environments with SB among adolescents aged 11-19 years from 14 countries.

Methods: In the International Physical activity and the Environment Network (IPEN) Adolescent Study (an observational, cross-sectional multi-country study), adolescents wore a triaxial accelerometer for seven days that assessed sedentary time (ST).

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the prevalence of ESBL-producing E. coli in urine samples in Curitiba, Brazil, from 2011 to 2019, finding that about 9.9% of isolates were ESBL-producing.
  • The prevalence increased significantly over the years, from 4.7% in 2012 to 19.3% in 2019, with correlations found between higher prevalence and factors like age, male gender, and increased antibiotic consumption.
  • Statistical models revealed that district-specific influences and antibiotic use explained a notable portion (20%-30%) of the variation in ESBL prevalence, with each additional antibiotic dose linked to a slight uptick in prevalence.

Purpose: We investigated the relationship between aortic remodeling and timing of thoracic endovascular aortic repair( TEVAR) in patients with uncomplicated Stanford type B aortic dissection.

Methods: 29 patients with sub-acute and early chronic uncomplicated Stanford type B aortic dissection underwent TEVAR between February 2019 and August 2022 in our hospital. We retrospectively compared aortic remodeling between 19 patients in the sub-acute( SA) group( 15-90 days from onset) and 10 patients in the early chronic( ECh) group( 91-365 days from onset) using the false luminal area reduction rate using computed tomography imagings.

A 25-year-old woman with a history of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia over ten years ago was referred to our hospital with a chief complaint of leukoblastosis. She was participating in a JPLSG (Japanese Pediatric Leukemia/Lymphoma Study Group) clinical study at that time. We diagnosed ALL relapse by multi-color flow cytometric analysis of bone marrow samples at admission, with reference to previous JPLSG data.

In patients undergoing haematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT), the intestinal microbiota plays an important role in prognosis, transplant outcome, and complications such as graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). Our prior research revealed that patients undergoing HSCT substantially differed from healthy controls. In this retrospective study, we showed that administering Clostridium butyricum MIYAIRI 588 (CBM588) as a live biotherapeutic agent is associated with maintaining intestinal microbiota in the early post-HSCT period.

  • Accurate differentiation between donor-derived post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) and relapsed recipient-derived lymphoproliferative disorder (LPD) is essential for effective treatment post-hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).
  • Traditional diagnostic methods often fall short, especially in cases involving Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-positive LPDs with low tumor cell counts.
  • The newly developed method utilizes sex chromosome fluorescence in situ hybridization and other techniques on a single tissue section, successfully enabling accurate diagnosis of difficult cases and preserving histological structure.
