One of the goals of Oman vision 2040 is to attain a 30 % of renewable energy mix, mainly from solar and wind energy projects for electricity generation by 2030, in alignment with the net zero emissions commitment by 2050. The adoption of residential rooftop solar PV installations supports achieving this target. This paper aims to assess the feasibility and performance of the rooftop solar PV projects at various locations in Oman and to suggest the strategies for promoting rooftop solar PV projects in Oman.

The current literature presents a limited understanding of the efficacy of antithrombotic agents in CRVO management, with sparse comparative studies evaluating the effectiveness of different antiplatelet therapies. Here, we report the case of nonischemic CRVO in a 54-year-old male with multiple systemic comorbidities, including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and dyslipidemia.

It acts by inhibiting the conversion of androgens to estrogen thereby lowering the estrogen synthesis in the body. We report a case of bilateral cystoid macular edema (CME) in a postmenopausal woman on letrozole for breast cancer.

To tackle global warming demand for renewable energy sources continues to increase. Along renewables, there has been a growing interest in converting carbon dioxide to methanol, which can be used as a fuel or a feedstock for producing chemicals.

The Fibroscan-aspartate aminotransferase (FAST) score was developed to identify patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and significant fibrosis. We investigated prevalence of NASH with fibrosis and the value of FAST score in predicting clinical outcomes in PWH.

It usually carries no significant medical complications in a healthy individual. However, henna in a patient with G6PD deficiency can cause serious medical complications, including severe hyperbilirubinemia and hemolytic anemia, due to its oxidative stress on the erythrocyte.

Surgeons can engage in one-or many-of the facets of global healthcare delivery: clinical care, capacity building, education, research, etc. Working in an increasingly global community, surgeons must be aware of the richness of cultural diversity at home and around the world such that they can provide culturally sensitive care.

Bacteria is the most common cause of postoperative acute infectious endophthalmitis of which Gram-positive (GP) bacteria is the predominant isolate which constituted 47% of all positive vitreous cultures in endophthalmitis vitrectomy study. On the other hand, Gram-negative bacteria constituted 11.

Methods: The non-HDL-C target achievement in patients with diabetes mellites (DM) and patients with established ASCVD was defined according to European Society of Cardiology and European Atherosclerosis Society 2019 guidelines for managing dyslipidemia. Patients were stratified to controlled LDL-C defined as < 70 mg/dL (< 1.
Background: Since the introduction of effective antiretroviral therapy, liver-related mortality has increased ten-fold in ageing people with HIV. This trend is driven by ageing-related metabolic conditions that cause non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which affects 35-65% of people with HIV. Clinically significant (stage 2-4) liver fibrosis develops in over 15% of people with HIV who have NAFLD.
View Article and Find Full Text PDF(1) Background: Developing strategies to identify significant liver fibrosis in people with HIV (PWH) is crucial to prevent complications of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). We aim to investigate if five simple serum biomarkers applied to PWH can optimize a care pathway to identify significant liver fibrosis defined by transient elastography (TE). (2) Methods: A two-tier fibrosis pathway was applied to three prospective cohorts of PWH undergoing TE with CAP.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been declared by the World Health Organization as a pandemic on March 11, 2020. COVID-19 predispose patients to multisystem thromboembolic events, including pulmonary emboli and deep vein thrombosis. We report a 33-year-old previously healthy man, with previous history of COVID-19 infection presented with left eye central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) with secondary macular edema.

We performed in-depth clinical and molecular analysis of mutant TP53 AML and MDS-EB to dissect the molecular characteristics in detail and determine its impact on survival. We performed next-generation sequencing on 2200 AML/MDS-EB specimens and assessed the TP53 mutant allelic status (mono- or bi-allelic), the number of TP53 mutations, mutant TP53 clone size, concurrent mutations, cytogenetics, and mutant TP53 molecular minimal residual disease and studied the associations of these characteristics with overall survival.

Materials And Methods: This is a retrospective descriptive study on all patients who underwent vitreoretinal surgeries in which SO injection or removal was done. The study was conducted at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital between January 1, 2010, and December 31, 2017.
Initial induction chemotherapy to eradicate the bulk of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells results in complete remission (CR) in the majority of patients. However, leukemic cells persisting in the bone marrow below the morphologic threshold remain unaffected and have the potential to proliferate and re-emerge as AML relapse. Detection of minimal/measurable residual disease (MRD) is a promising prognostic marker for AML relapse as it can assess an individual patients' risk profile and evaluate their response to treatment.

Congenital hyperinsulinism (CHI) is the most common cause of persistent hypoglycemia in infancy. CHI is a challenging disease to diagnose and manage. Moreover, complicating the course of the disease with another metabolic disease, in this case maple syrup urine disease (MSUD), adds more challenges to the already complex management.
