PECTORALIS MAJOR TENDON INJURY: RECONSTRUCTION USING BONE TUNNEL AND ANCHORS.

Objective: This study aims to assess a new technique used for pectoralis major reconstruction using bone tunnel and fixation with metallic anchors in the contralateral cortical bone.

Methods: Patients who had undergone post-surgical reconstruction of the pectoralis major at least 24 months before were assessed by the UCLA Shoulder Score and the Simple Shoulder Test and compared with the contralateral side by manual goniometry. Subgroup analysis was also performed between grafted and non-grafted patients.

Double-Blinded Randomized Study of the Correlation between Simple Radiography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the Evaluation of the Critical Shoulder Angle: Reproducibility and Learning Curve.

 To evaluate the feasibility of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to obtain the critical shoulder angle (CSA) comparing the results obtained through radiography and MRI, and assess the learning curves.  In total, 15 patients were evaluated in a blinded and randomized way. The CSA was measured and compared among groups and subgroups.

Robotic Transfer of the Latissimus Dorsi Associated With Levator Scapulae and Rhomboid Minor Mini-Open Transfers for Trapezium Palsy.

Robotic surgery has been used for a long time. With advantages over traditional surgical methods, it is earning space and expanding use to daily medical practice in several surgical specialties. This Technical Note presents an endoscopic robotic posterior shoulder approach using the DaVinci® robot.

RESULTS OF SURGICAL TREATMENT OF DENERATIVE ARTHROPATHY OF THE ROTATOR CUFF USING HEMIARTHROPLASTY- CTA(®).

Objective: To assess results of CTA(®) partial shoulder arthroplasty for treatment of degenerative arthropathy of the rotator cuff.

Methods: Between December 2006 and June 2009, 23 shoulders of 23 patients were submitted to CTA(®) type partial shoulder arthroplasty for treatment of arthropathy secondary to rotator cuff injury. Post-operative follow up time ranged from 6 to 35 months.

COMPARATIVE ANATOMICAL STUDY BETWEEN THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDES OF THE AXILLARY NERVE IN RELATION TO DELTOPECTORAL APPROACH AND ACROMION.

Objective: To establish anatomical parameters for the axillary nerve by measuring the distances to the acromion and the deltopectoral access, and to ascertain whether there are any differences in comparative measurements between the left and right sides.

Method: An anatomical study on the path of the axillary nerve was conducted by dissecting 30 shoulders of 20 fresh adult cadavers. For comparative study, bilateral dissection was performed on 10 cadavers.
