This paper investigates enhancing the efficiency of solar water pumping systems (SWPS) by implementing a Maximum Power Point Tracking technique based on the Bat Metaheuristic Optimizer (MPPT-bat) for the photovoltaic generator (PVG) side, coupled with Direct Torque Control (DTC) for the induction motor powering the pump. Unlike traditional techniques, which make no compromise between tracking speed, oscillation and robustness. The integration of the MPPT-bat represents a significant advance, making it possible to improve PVG performance whatever the weather conditions.

Objectives: The objectives of this review and meta-analysis were twofold: first, to determine the prevalence of substance use among school-going children in Arab and African countries; and second, to highlight the considerable influence of variables such as the nation's region and the timeframe of the study on the prevalence of substance use.

Methods: Research was sourced from Science Direct, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and PubMed. Thirty-seven articles were incorporated in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines.

Objective: The identification of factors associated with successful rehabilitation after hip fractures enables more successful planning of the rehabilitation process and discharge from the hospital. Orthostatic hypotension (OH) and handgrip strength (HGS) have been evaluated in previous studies as potential predictors of rehabilitation outcomes, with inconsistent results.

Design: A retrospective study of patients 65 years of age and above who underwent rehabilitation after surgical repair of hip fracture in the Geriatric Department between July 2020 and October 2023.

Background: During the postpartum period, understanding women's well-being, specifically their Health-related Quality of Life (HRQoL), is vital for comprehensive healthcare.

Objectives: Our study aims to explore the HRQoL and its associated factors in Moroccan women after vaginal birth (VB) and cesarean section (CS).

Study Design: In this cross-sectional study we assessed the HRQoL and its associated factors among Moroccan women who gave birth at the provincial hospital center of Settat.

Introduction: Given their remarkable capacity to convert atmospheric nitrogen into plant-accessible ammonia, nitrogen-fixing microbial species hold promise as a sustainable alternative to chemical nitrogen fertilizers, particularly in economically significant crops like wheat. This study aimed to identify strains with optimal attributes for promoting wheat growth sustainably, with a primary emphasis on reducing reliance on chemical nitrogen fertilizers.

Methods: We isolated free nitrogen-fixing strains from diverse rhizospheric soils across Morocco.

Background Nasal obstruction due to inferior turbinate hypertrophy is a common medical complaint among ENT clinic patients, which can significantly affect the patient's quality of life, and some are compelled to use topical intranasal decongestants. Conservative management is the first line of treatment; however, surgical reduction of the inferior turbinate becomes necessary if the symptoms persist after three months of treatment. The optimal surgical technique is controversial.

Objective: Simulation-based training (SBT) is an effective educational method widely used in many clinical settings, including oncology. This study aimed to undertake a scoping review of research related to SBT in oncology to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role of SBT in enhancing the skills of healthcare professionals and thereby improving the quality of care and patient safety in oncology.

Methods: We conducted a scoping review to map published studies in Medline, Scopus, and Web of Science databases.

Background: The rising prevalence of gluten-related disorders such as celiac disease explains the increased consumption of gluten-free foods (GFF). However, these foods must be safe in terms of both gluten content and contamination by pathogenic microorganisms in order to avoid food poisoning.

Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the microbiological quality of gluten-free meals, naturally gluten free foods, and gluten free-labelled products.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major public health problem. In Morocco, few studies have focused on COPD in primary health care facilities, whose main mission is prevention. The aim of our work is thus to assess the prevalence of COPD and to study the factors associated with this silent disease among users of health care facilities in Morocco.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major public health problem. The present study aims to provide a global and regional estimate of the prevalence of COPD based on spirometry according to the two most widely used diagnostic criteria of COPD: fixed ratio (FR) and lower limit of normal (LLN).

Methods: We conducted a systematic review of the literature according to PRISMA guidelines.

Background: There is a growing recognition of the need to establish a culture that focuses on patient safety in order to reduce the number of adverse events associated with care and improve health-care quality in Morocco. The aim of this research is to analyze results of the perception of health professionals working in two university hospitals concerning the concept of patient safety culture in Morocco.

Methods: This study evaluated the healthcare professional's perceptions of patient safety culture in two selected university hospitals centers in Morocco by using the validated French version of the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture questionnaire (HSOPSC).

The complex demographic history of human populations in North Africa has resulted in a high degree of genetic heterogeneity across the region. However, little is known about the pattern of these genetic variations in its current populations. The present study provides new data on the genetic background of Chaouia, an Arabic-speaking North African population in the western center of Morocco.

Maintaining the quality and stability of functional meat products during storage is one of the major challenges of these products. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of polysaccharides extracted from green alga Bryopsis plumosa as a new natural additive in the formulation of beef sausages. In order to evaluate the impact of the incorporation of polysaccharides in beef sausages formulation, the physico-chemical, microbiological, and antioxidant properties were investigated during 12 days of storage at 4°C.

Article Synopsis
  • Gut injury is linked to increased cell death in intestinal cells, often leading to chronic inflammatory diseases.
  • This study explores the protective effects of polysaccharides from Tunisian red alga (PSGS) against toxic damage caused by hydrogen peroxide (HO) in IEC-6 cells.
  • Results show that PSGS can restore cell viability and normal cell structure, and it appears to protect cells from oxidative stress and apoptosis caused by HO through its unique structural properties.

The aim of this study is to estimate the fetal radiation dose for a pregnant patient treated for Hodgkin's lymphoma. Due to the supradiaphragmatic extensions, two plans are used for this treatment, one for supra-clavicular and the other for cervical lymph nodes, with beam energies of 18 and 6 MV, respectively. We model the ELEKTA accelerator (Versa HD Ltd, Crawly, UK) and the pregnant patient using GATE code.
