A study was conducted to investigate the evolutionary relationships of from Oman, in the southeastern part of the Arabian Peninsula. Sequences of the mitochondrial and the nuclear large-subunit ribosomal RNA (LSU rRNA, ) genes were used to investigate the populations of across their distribution in Oman to determine their relationships with other species. Our findings indicate that in Oman is a member of an East African clade, distinct from those in West Africa.

The symbiotic association between fungus-gardening termites and its fungal symbiont has a moderate degree of specificity-although the symbiotic fungi () form a monophyletic clade, there is not a one-to-one association between termite species and their fungus-garden associates. Here, we aim to determine the origin and phylogenetic relationships of in Oman. We used sequences of the internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) and the nuclear large subunit ribosomal RNA (LSU rRNA, 25S) gene and analyzed these with sequences of from other geographic areas.
