The study aimed to identify the occurrence, causes, risk factors, and outcomes of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients after open heart surgery, involving 62 patients.
The incidence of AKI was found to be 17.7%, with common causes including sepsis, hypotension, prolonged ventilator use, drug effects, and associated risk factors like hypertension and diabetes.
Overall mortality among participants was 11.3%, but it rose dramatically to 71.4% in patients who developed post-operative AKI.
