Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of patient transfer slide boards with automatic couch height positioning compensation (AHC) on image quality and radiation dose during computed tomography (CT) examinations.
Methods: The chest phantom for Kyoto Kagaku (Kyoto) Type PBU-SS 2 was performed helical scan using a Canon Medical Systems (Tochigi) 80-row CT Aquilion Prime SP/i Edition. Scan parameters were tube voltage: 120 kV, tube current: min 50 mA max 500 mA with AHC for noise index: 15, slice thickness: 5.
Background: A previous Phase II clinical trial, conducted from 1995 to 2003, evaluated CNS germ cell tumors (GCTs) using a three-group treatment stratification based on histopathology. The primary objective of the study was to assess the long-term efficacy of standardized treatment regimens, while the secondary objective focused on identifying associated long-term complications.
Methods: Total 228 patients were classified into three groups for treatment: germinoma (n=161), intermediate prognosis (n=38), and poor prognosis (n=28), excluding one mature teratoma case.

A mixed germ cell tumor (MGCT) in the neurohypophysis is very rare, with only a few reported cases but none with surgical videos. In this report, the endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach for MGCT in the neurohypophysis is presented (Video 1). TP53 mutation is rare in oligodendrogliomas while the vast majority of astrocytomas harbor the mutation, making TP53 mutation mutually exclusive with 1p/19q codeletion in lower grade gliomas virtually. We report a case of 51-year-old woman with a left fronto-temporal oligodendroglioma that contained a small portion with a TP53 mutation, R248Q, at the initial surgery.

An unobstructive measurement method for sleeping infants and young children under the age of 6 years using a sheet-type vital sensor with a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) pressure-sensitive layer is demonstrated. However, it is often difficult to accurately reconstruct the endoscopic vision of the surgical field from the pre-surgical radiographic images because the lesion remarkably displaces the geography of normal anatomic structures. We created a precise three-dimensional computer graphic model from preoperative radiographic data that was then superimposed on a visual image of the actual surgical field and displayed on a video monitor during endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery.

The aim of this study was to further explore the biological characteristics of this possible subgroup and obtain insight into the mechanism of their relatively benign clinical behavior.
Methods: We compared gene expression pattern between five 19q-loss and five 19q-intact IDH-mutated astrocytomas by microarray analysis.
The Consortium to Inform Molecular and Practical Approaches to CNS Tumor Taxonomy (cIMPACT-NOW) update 3 recommends that histologic grade II and III IDH-wildtype diffuse astrocytic gliomas that harbor EGFR amplification, the combination of whole chromosome 7 gain and whole chromosome 10 loss (7 + /10 -), or TERT promoter (pTERT) mutations should be considered as glioblastomas (GBM), World Health Organization grade IV. In this retrospective study, we examined the utility of molecular classification based on pTERT status and copy-number alterations (CNAs) in IDH-wildtype lower grade gliomas (LGGs, grade II, and III). The impact on survival was evaluated for the pTERT mutation and CNAs, including EGFR gain/amplification, PTEN loss, CDKN2A homozygous deletion, and PDGFRA gain/amplification.
