Objective: To assess survival times in dogs that received palliative radiation therapy (RT) alone, and in combination with chemotherapy, pamidronate, or both for primary appendicular bone tumors and determine whether the addition of these adjunctive therapies affects survival.

The objective of this retrospective study was to evaluate the presence of concurrent splenic and cardiac hemangiosarcoma (HSA). Dogs were divided into two groups: group 1 included 23 dogs with splenic HSA, and group 2 included 31 dogs with a cardiac HSA. All dogs were fully assessed for metastasis with thoracic radiography, abdominal and/or cardiac ultrasound, and/or postmortem examination.

Objectives: This study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of recognized prenatal illicit substance abuse and the characteristics of women being identified as illicit drug users in a statewide population-based cohort.
Methods: During a 1-month period, birth attendants of all singleton births in Oregon (n = 3200) were surveyed regarding their knowledge of prenatal illicit drug use by women who gave birth. Birth certificates were linked to surveys after removal of personal identifiers.
This paper describes the use of an electrogoniometer to measure angular movements of the hip joints of a large number of 'normal' people. The object of the study was to establish a statistically significant data base for the movements of the hip joints during functional activities against which the movements of pathological hips could be compared. The measurement and the analysis used to establish 'normality' in males and females over a wide age range are introduced.
