Introduction And Importance: Laparoscopic gonadectomy for nonpalpable glands in the inguinal canal, particularly in patients with Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (CAIS), presents technical challenges and is infrequently reported. While laparoscopic surgery in young women is minimally invasive and offers cosmetic advantages, it may require an additional inguinal incision depending on gonad location.

Case Presentation: A 16-year-old phenotypic female with a chief complaint of primary amenorrhea was diagnosed with 46, XY karyotype and CAIS.

Article Synopsis
  • * Results showed that cervical stenosis occurred in 2.2% of patients, and 4.9% dealt with recurrent or persistent disease, with older age and surgical margin involvement being key risk factors for recurrence.
  • * The S-T conization method demonstrated effective outcomes, but older patients with positive margins require close monitoring, and it's advisable to avoid conceiving within three months post-conization to increase chances of a full-term pregnancy.

Dense adhesions because of severe endometriosis between the posterior cervical peritoneum and the anterior sigmoid or rectum obliterate the cul-de-sac and distort normal anatomic landmarks. Surgery for endometriosis is associated with severe complications, including ureteral and rectal injuries and voiding dysfunction. Surgeons should recognize the importance of not only avoiding ureteral and rectal injuries but also focusing on the preservation of the hypogastric nerves.

A 65-year-old woman was transferred to our hospital because of loss of consciousness along with a right hemiplegia due to an intracerebral hematoma(ICH)that extended from the left temporal lobe to the lateral part of the basal ganglia. CT angiograms(CTA)and 3D-rotational angiograms showed an absence of the distal C1 segment of the left internal carotid artery(ICA), and an anomalous collateral vessel arising from the proximal end of the left A2 with plexiform(twig-like)arterial networks, supplying antegrade blood flow to the left middle cerebral artery territory. The caliber of the left carotid arterial system decreased from the origin to the terminal end.

In recent years, the use of laparoscopic surgery has been expanded to include radical curative resection. In a previous study, 212 patients with primary colorectal cancer (stages I-III) underwent radical curative resection by hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery (HALS) (n=98) or conventional laparotomy (CL) (n=114) and were compared with respect to 3-year relapse-free survival (3Y-RFS) and 3-year overall survival (3Y-OS). The study included 210/212 patients who were followed up to 5 years, including 96 patients who underwent HALS and 114 treated with CL.

Objectives: It is difficult to introduce laparoscopic surgery in institutions with a small number of patients, and surgical training relies heavily on mentors to produce well-trained surgeons. The aim of this study was to determine whether implementation of a hands-on mentorship model could provide safe skill transfer for transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) repair.

Methods: A trainee who had no experience with TAPP repair underwent operative tutorials until the mentor judged that the trainee could carry out the operation independently.

Minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery has become widespread and the indications for such surgery have recently been extended to various conditions, including rectal cancer. The objective of this study was to compare the clinical outcome of hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery (HALS) and conventional laparotomy (CL) in patients with rectal cancer. Patients who underwent radical resection of stage I-III primary rectal cancer (n=111) were classified into those receiving HALS (n=57) and those receiving CL (n=54); the two groups were matched for stage and postoperative treatment.
