- Research showed that IPF patients exhibit a lower CD4(+)/CD8(+) ratio and present a Th2 dominance, while CVD patients display Th1 dominance during active IP, as indicated by serum KL-6 levels.
- Understanding the Th1/Th2 profile in active IP cases could guide targeted Th1/Th2 modulator therapies, despite elevated KL-6 in both conditions.
We treated a case of Tsutsugamushi disease diagnosed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using a scab specimen at the bite site of trombiculid mites. Otherwise the diagnosis could not be confirmed by serum antibody test nor the PCR test of blood. The genome of Rickettsia tsutsugamushi was detected and identified as the Kawasaki serotype strain.
