Background: Endovascular thrombectomy, the preferred treatment for acute large-vessel occlusion stroke, is highly time-dependent. Many patients live far from thrombectomy centers due to large geographical variations in stroke services. This study aimed to explore the consequences of long transport distance on the proportion of thrombectomy-eligible patients who underwent thrombectomy, the clinical outcomes with or without thrombectomy, the timelines for patients transported, and the diagnostic accuracy of large-vessel occlusion in primary stroke centers.

Child welfare workers (CWWs) often work under conditions similar in nature to workers within safety critical organizations (SCOs). This is because most of their work surrounds child neglect, securing homes for foster children, haphazard, and intricate cases, among other things, and where making wrong decisions, inattention to details, and the likes could lead to adverse consequences especially for the kids within their care. Research has shown that employees who experience support at work often report less stress symptoms, burnout, and a host of other negative workplace experiences.

A 54-year-old woman with recurrent episodes of bilateral knee arthritis was admitted several times to the Department of Rheumatology. She was diagnosed to have chronic calcium pyrophosphate crystal arthritis. Interleukin 1β (IL-1β) plays a central role in the pathogenesis of inflammation induced by calcium pyrophosphate crystals, and IL-1β blockade may be an effective treatment in patients with severe chronic calcium pyrophosphate crystal arthritis.

The prevalence and severity of gizzard erosion and ulceration syndrome (GEU) in broilers is affected by a number of predisposing and preventive factors. Two broiler experiments with almost identical basal diets were conducted to investigate the effect of dietary oat hulls, access to litter and the antimicrobial compound narasin on GEU. The effects on particle size of duodenal digesta, ileal starch concentration, caecal Clostridium perfringens counts, necrotic enteritis and production performance were also examined.

Shift work tolerance is a term describing the ability to adapt to shift work without adverse consequences. In this paper we systematically review literature published investigating the relation between individual differences such as age, gender, personality, morningness/eveningness as well as biological variables and different measures of shift work tolerance from 1998 till 2009. A total of 60 articles were included in this review, of which ten studies were classified as longitudinal, while the rest were classified as cross-sectional.
