The study assessed competencies and practices of a large group of healthcare providers in childhood attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and identified barriers to improving care. Methods were self-assessment using an Internet questionnaire with a standardized patient case; analysis compared with professional association recommendations; and measurement of provider self-efficacy levels. Of 2,103 participants who completed the assessment, 44% were only "somewhat confident" and 20% "not at all confident" in being up-to-date in diagnosis and management of ADHD.
