This article describes the data on community structure and diversity of intestinal bacteria of Indonesian shortfin wild eel fingerling and elver (). The specimens were obtained from Ci Kangean River, Alur Village, Cipatujah District, Tasikmalaya, West Java, Indonesia. The data were generated using DNA metagenomic approach on an Illumina paired-end platform by utilizing the V3-V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene.

Normally, PAHs has lower molecular weight such as phenanthrene and naphthalene that are easy and efficient to degrade, but high-molecular-weight PAHs such as chrysene and pyrene are difficult to be biodegraded by common microorganism. This study investigated the isolation and characterization of a potential halophilic bacterium capable of utilizing two high-molecular-weight PAHs.
