Improving knowledge and decreasing depressive symptoms in caregivers of children with asthma through the asthma academy: A randomized controlled trial.

Caregivers of children with asthma demonstrate higher levels of anxious and depressive symptoms when compared to caregivers of healthy children. The objectives of this study were to: 1) Evaluate feasibility and acceptability of two nurse-led, remotely offered interventions for caregivers of children with asthma; 2) Compare effectiveness of two interventions (a virtual education session and a virtual education session supplemented with a telehealth visit) in relation to caregiver outcomes, and 3) Assess the preliminary effect of the interventions on caregivers' knowledge of asthma, sleep, anxiety and depressive symptoms. A mixed methods approach was used inclusive of a qualitative, descriptive design and randomized controlled trial design.

Condylar morphometry in adults with sagittal intermaxillary relationship class I, II and III using Cone Beam Computed Tomography in a Colombian population.

Objective: This study established the morphometry of the mandibular condyle in individuals with complete craniofacial growth and sagittal intermaxillary relationships class I, II and III using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Materials And Methods: Cone beam computed tomography was obtained for orthodontics diagnostic purposes. The sample was divided taking into account the ANB angle in sagittal classes I, II and III (age ranged from 18 to 40 years old).

Phase 1b study of the BET protein inhibitor RO6870810 with venetoclax and rituximab in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

Bromodomain and extraterminal (BET) proteins are transcriptional activators for multiple oncogenic processes in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), including MYC, BCL2, E2F, and toll-like receptor signaling. We report results of a phase 1b dose-escalation study of the novel, subcutaneous BET inhibitor RO6870810 (RO) combined with the BCL-2 inhibitor venetoclax, and rituximab, in recurrent/refractory DLBCL. RO was delivered for 14 days of a 21-day cycle, whereas venetoclax was delivered continuously.

Effect of time to relapse on overall survival in patients with mantle cell lymphoma following autologous haematopoietic cell transplantation.

In young and fit patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), intensive induction therapy followed by a consolidative autologous haematopoietic cell transplant (autoHCT) is the standard of care in the front-line setting. Recently, time-to-event analysis has emerged as an important risk assessment tool in lymphoma, though its impact in MCL is not well defined. We utilized the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research database to evaluate the effect of post-autoHCT time to relapse on overall survival (OS) over time in 461 patients who underwent autoHCT within 12 months of MCL diagnosis.

Autologous transplant vs chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy for relapsed DLBCL in partial remission.

The relative efficacy of autologous hematopoietic cell transplant (auto-HCT) vs chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) who achieve a partial remission (PR) after salvage chemotherapy is not known. Using the Center for International Blood & Marrow Transplant Research registry database, we identified adult patients with DLBCL who received either an auto-HCT (2013-2019) or CAR-T treatment with axicabtagene ciloleucel (2018-2019) while in a PR by computed tomography or positron emission tomography scan. We compared the clinical outcomes between the 2 cohorts using univariable and multivariable regression models after adjustment for relevant baseline and clinical factors.

Autologous and allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma-type Richter syndrome.

Richter syndrome (RS) represents a transformation from chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL) to aggressive lymphoma, most commonly diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), which is associated with a dismal prognosis. Patients with DLBCL-RS have poor outcomes with DLBCL-directed therapy; thus, consolidation with hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) has been used, with durable remissions observed. Studies reporting HCT outcomes in patients with DLBCL-RS have been small, have not evaluated the prognostic impact of cytogenetic risk factors, and were conducted prior to the era of novel targeted therapy of CLL/SLL.

Plastic litter dispersed in the different environmental compartments represents one of the most concerning problems associated with human activities. Specifically, plastic particles in the micro and nano size scale are ubiquitous and represent a threat to human health and the environment. In the last few decades, a huge amount of research has been devoted to evaluate several aspects of micro/nano-plastic contamination: origin and emissions, presence in different compartments, environmental fate, effects on human health and the environment, transfer in the food web and the role of associated chemicals and microorganisms.

Using a community trauma theoretical framework, this qualitative study examines the lived experiences of Black and Latinx youth living in an under-resourced community with high levels of violent crime. Outcomes and Utilization Trends of Front-Line Autologous Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation for Mantle Cell Lymphoma.

Although autologous hematopoietic cell transplantation (auto-HCT) has become a common practice for eligible patients in the front-line setting with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), there are limited data regarding trends in auto-HCT utilization and associated outcomes. This study used the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) database to evaluate survival outcomes and auto-HCT utilization in adults age ≥18 years who underwent auto-HCT within 12 months of diagnosis of MCL between January 2000 and December 2018. The 19-year period from 2000 to 2018 was divided into 4 separate intervals-2000 to 2004, 2005 to 2009, 2010 to 2014, and 2015 to 2018-and encompassed 5082 patients.

Synthesis and Evaluation of Biological Activities of Bis(spiropyrazolone)cyclopropanes: A Potential Application against Leishmaniasis.

This work focuses on the search and development of drugs that may become new alternatives to the commercial drugs currently available for treatment of leishmaniasis. We have designed and synthesized 12 derivatives of bis(spiropyrazolone)cyclopropanes. We then characterized their potential application in therapeutic use.

Using the PEOP Model to Understand Barriers to Functioning in Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome.

Individuals with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) experience many barriers that lead to decreased functioning and quality of life. At this time, there are limited resources regarding the functional impact of POTS on occupational performance. Therefore, this narrative review demonstrates how occupational therapy practitioners can conceptualize, categorize, and systematically organize their thinking around barriers individuals with POTS experience using the Person-Environment-Occupation-Performance (PEOP) model of practice.

Advances in Immunotherapy for Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma.

Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a heterogeneous disease that is normally treated with combination chemotherapy combined with the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody rituximab. Although about two-thirds of patients are cured with initial chemo-immunotherapy, a sizable minority of patients will have relapsed or refractory (r/r) DLBCL. Standard therapy for r/r DLBCL is salvage chemotherapy followed by autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT); however, a minority of patients have long-term remission with this approach.

Multimodal single-cell analysis of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma reveals distinct subclonal tissue-dependent signatures.

Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) is a heterogeneous group of mature T-cell neoplasms characterized by the accumulation of clonal malignant CD4+ T cells in the skin. The most common variant of CTCL, mycosis fungoides (MF ), is confined to the skin in early stages but can be accompanied by extracutaneous dissemination of malignant T cells to the blood and lymph nodes in advanced stages of disease. Sézary syndrome (SS), a leukemic form of disease, is characterized by significant blood involvement.

The Role of Smad2 in Adult Neuroplasticity as Seen through Hippocampal-Dependent Spatial Learning/Memory and Neurogenesis.

Adult neural plasticity is an important and intriguing phenomenon in the brain, and adult hippocampal neurogenesis is directly involved in modulating neural plasticity by mechanisms that are only partially understood. We have performed gain-of-function and loss-of-function experiments to study Smad2, a transcription factor selected from genes that are demethylated after exercise through the analysis of an array of physical activity-induced factors, and their corresponding gene expression, and an efficient inducer of plasticity. In these studies, changes in cell number and morphology were analyzed in the hippocampal dentate gyrus (cell proliferation and survival, including regional distribution, and structural maturation/differentiation, including arborization, dendritic spines, and neurotransmitter-specific vesicles) of sedentary male mice, after evaluation in a battery of behavioral tests.

Community-based research and prevention scholarship has shown a growing interest in examining the impact of the ecological structure of neighborhoods on community violence. Ecological structures such as higher numbers of alcohol outlets and abandoned/vacant properties in geographically dense, poor, and socially isolated communities are critically important to consider. Further, disadvantaged urban communities are burdened by greater police presence with limited or no abatement in crime or violence.

Increasing HIV/AIDS knowledge among urban ethnic minority youth: Findings from a community-based prevention intervention program.

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)/AIDs (Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) prevention and research are imperative. Prevention-intervention programming is minimal in low-income communities of color. Additional research is needed that uncovers points of support and prevention to increase HIV knowledge and awareness and limit new HIV infections among adolescents of color.

This study describes the short-term results of the LQC technique for treating PFA in a cohort of Colombian patients.

Patients And Methods: We retrospectively analysed 42 cases of PFA treated with LQC from 2006 to 2018.

Plastics are the most important component in marine debris. In turn, within plastics, microplastics (<5 mm) are those that most affect marine biota. Thus, this review has as its main objective to show the current state of studies of microplastics, as well as to determine the groups of vertebrates most affected by microplastics, and the type and predominant color of microplastics.

Mfge8 attenuates human gastric antrum smooth muscle contractions.

Coordinated gastric smooth muscle contraction is critical for proper digestion and is adversely affected by a number of gastric motility disorders. In this study we report that the secreted protein Mfge8 (milk fat globule-EGF factor 8) inhibits the contractile responses of human gastric antrum muscles to cholinergic stimuli by reducing the inhibitory phosphorylation of the MYPT1 (myosin phosphatase-targeting subunit (1) subunit of MLCP (myosin light chain phosphatase), resulting in reduced LC20 (smooth muscle myosin regulatory light chain (2) phosphorylation. Mfge8 reduced the agonist-induced increase in the F-actin/G-actin ratios of β-actin and γ-actin1.
