Positional behaviors have been broadly quantified across the Order Primates, and in several other mammalian lineages, to contextualize adaptations to, and evolution within, an arboreal environment. Outside of Mammalia, however, such data are yet to be reported. In this study, we present the first quantitative report of positional behavior within Aves, presenting 11,246 observations of scan sampling data from a colony of Monk Parakeets () from Brooklyn, New York City.

An isolated preparation of tadpole tail muscle was used to assess the peripheral effects of tricaine (3-aminobenzoic acid ethyl ester) at anesthetic concentrations and under physiological conditions. The drug effect on the electrically-evoked twitch was tested using short-pulse durations that elicited synaptically mediated effects or longer-duration pulses that stimulated the muscle directly. Tricaine reduced both types of response anesthetic and even subanesthetic concentrations.

Positive donors and the living recipients of their previously donated blood components were evaluated for risk factors and symptoms related to HTLV-I infection, were screened by enzyme immunoassay, confirmed by Western blot for HTLV-I/II, and subsequently tested by polymerase chain reaction and peptide enzyme immunoassay to distinguish between HTLV-I and -II infection. Six seropositive blood donors (0.
