Magnesium-doped hydroxyapatite (HAp-Mg) nanofibers show promise for medical applications due to their structural similarity to bone minerals and enhanced biological properties, such as improved biocompatibility and antimicrobial activity. This study synthesized HAp-Mg nanofibers using a microwave-assisted hydrothermal method (MAHM) to evaluate their cytotoxicity, biocompatibility, and antimicrobial efficacy compared to commercial hydroxyapatite (HAp). Characterization through X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) confirmed the successful incorporation of magnesium, producing high-purity, crystalline nanofibers with hexagonal morphology.

The valorization of byproducts from the sugarcane industry represents a potential alternative method with a low energy cost for the production of metabolites that are of commercial and industrial interest. In the present work, bioethanol was produced by sugar fermentation obtained from water hyacinth using a novelty hybrid method composed of steam explosion and enzymatic hydrolysis, using hydrolytic enzymes produced by solid-state fermentation and water hyacinth as substrate. The highest activity, 42 U for xylanase and 2 U for cellulase per gram of dry matter, respectively, was obtained. Steam explosion pretreatment was performed at 190 ℃ for 1, 5, and 10 min, using water hyacinth sampled from the Maria Lizamba Lagoon, the Arroyo Hondo and the Amapa River.

We are submitting data regarding the prevalence and type distribution of the HPV infection and the risk factors associated with it, which may provide a valuable reference to reinforce screening strategies, and to maintain HPV genotype surveillance in Mexico. We discuss the overall prevalence of HPV infection as detected in normal cytological samples stratified by age, different types of infection, and oncogenic capacity. One of the most important findings was that common HPV genotypes detected in healthy women were the genotype numbers: 6, 31, 16, and 56, likewise, smoking and having a history of more than three sexual partners over their lifetime, represented the main risk factors in this study.

The circadian clock is regulated at the molecular level by feedback circuits of a group of genes known as "clock genes", which establish a mechanism that controls circadian cellular physiology to maintain the balance between cell proliferation, response to DNA damage and apoptosis. Alterations in the expression of clock genes due to genetic or epigenetic mechanisms have been associated with multiple diseases including cancer. Period circadian regulator (Per)1 and Per2 genes are involved in the molecular mechanism of the circadian clock, and exhibit tumor suppressor properties. Several studies have reported a decreased expression of Per1, Per2 and Per3 genes in different types of cancer and cancer cell lines. Longissimus dorci (LD) samples of different origin (imported and domestic) with pre-treatments (imported meat stored at -18°C for 6months, domestic meat stored at -18°C for 10days, and domestic meat stored at 4°C for 24h) were cooked as barbacoa and frozen using two treatments (air blast and liquid immersion) and then evaluated after 30days of storage. The results showed that the origin and pre-treatment of meat affected L*, a*, instrumental texture and microstructure; that the storage time affected pH, aw, b* and microstructure; and that the freezing treatments did not affect the meat. Overall, the frozen cooked lamb dish barbacoa could present some problems at the conservation stage due to an increase in pH, aw and changes in microstructure; however, the physical traits (color and texture) remained mostly unchanged and depended more on the quality of the raw meat.
