Background And Aim: Steviol glycosides extracted from the leaves of Bertoni have been of much consideration recently because of their beneficial effects on health, raising the possibilities for improving farm animals' health. Although some studies on stevia's dietary effect on body weight gain are available, few studies have been conducted to evaluate stevioside supplementation on immune response in broilers. This experiment aimed to analyze how a stevia-based sweetener can affect broiler chickens' growth performance and humoral response.

After that, studies revealed that SRLVs have a broad distribution in Mexico by detecting antibodies or/and molecular tests; however, a descriptive case of the disease has not been published.

Development of a polymerase chain reaction and capillary gel electrophoresis method for the detection of chicken or turkey meat in heat-treated pork meat mixtures.

A polymerase chain reaction and capillary gel electrophoresis (PCR-CGE) method with ultraviolet (UV) or laser induced fluorescence detection (LIF) was established for the detection of chicken or turkey in heat-treated pork meat mixtures. Mitochondrial DNA samples extracted from heat treated meat were amplified with their corresponding specific primers yielding PCR products between 200 and 300 bp. LIF detection was superior than UV detection in terms of precision and sensitivity for the study of DNA fragments.

[The HIV/AIDS work of Mexican nongovernmental organizations].

In Mexico, non-governmental organizations (NGO) addressing specifically HIV/AIDS issues originated in 1983, with the activities of homosexual groups from Mexico City, Guadalajara and Tijuana. The creation of the AIDS National Prevention and Control Council (CONASIDA) and the advent of Mexicans Against AIDS, Confederation of NGO, paved the way towards a solid organization of groups created in recent years. This essay addresses the obstacles, accomplishments and advancements that NGO working on AIDS have experienced in their struggle against the AIDS epidemic in Mexico.
