We identify a recently proposed shifting operation on classical phase space as a gauge transformation for statistical mechanical microstates. The infinitesimal generators of the continuous gauge group form a noncommutative Lie algebra, which induces exact sum rules when thermally averaged. Gauge invariance with respect to finite shifting is demonstrated via Monte Carlo simulation in the transformed phase space which generates identical equilibrium averages.

This study aimed to describe exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) rates at discharge at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and explore factors that contributed to changes in breastfeeding rates during the COVID-19 pandemic. Overall, 4762 patient charts were reviewed, 2000 from the pre-pandemic period, and 2762 from the lockdown period. In this article, we present the design and experimental validation of a labyrinthine metamaterial for vibro-acoustic applications. Based on a two-dimensional unit cell, different designs of finite-size metamaterial specimens in a sandwich configuration including two plates are proposed. The design phase includes an optimization based on Bloch-Floquet analysis with the aims of maximizing the band gap and extruding the specimens in the third dimension while keeping the absorption properties almost unaffected.

Immunorecognition provides an excellent basis for targeted imaging techniques covering a wide range from basic research to diagnostics and from single cells to whole organisms. Fluorescence- or radioisotope-labeled antibodies, antibody fragments or nanobodies enable a direct signal readout upon binding and allow for versatile imaging from microscopy to whole-body imaging. However, as the signal intensity directly correlates with the number of labeled antibodies bound to their epitopes (1:1 binding), sensitivity for low-expressing epitopes can be limiting for visualization.

Objective: To assess the effect of proton pump inhibitor (PPI) use on bone mineral density (BMD) and bone microarchitecture as measured by the trabecular bone score (TBS) in patients with inflammatory rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (iRMDs).

Methods: Cross-sectional data from a prospective single-center cohort (2015 to 2022) of patients with iRMDs were used to evaluate 3 co-primary outcomes: BMD of the left femoral neck and the lumbar spine (as T-scores) and the TBS. Inverse probability weighting adjusted for numerous confounders including age, sex, body mass index, current and cumulative glucocorticoid (GC) dose, C-reactive protein levels, disability, and others.

Herein, we report on the design, synthesis, and in-depth characterization of a new class of dual-emissive (visible and NIR) metal naphthalocyaninates. We describe recent progress in the statistical mechanical description of many-body systems via machine learning combined with concepts from density functional theory and many-body simulations. We argue that the neural functional theory by Sammüller(2023e2312484120) gives a functional representation of direct correlations and of thermodynamics that allows for thorough quality control and consistency checking of the involved methods of artificial intelligence. Addressing a prototypical system we here present a pedagogical application to hard core particle in one spatial dimension, where Percus' exact solution for the free energy functional provides an unambiguous reference.

We present a hybrid scheme based on classical density functional theory and machine learning for determining the equilibrium structure and thermodynamics of inhomogeneous fluids. The exact functional map from the density profile to the one-body direct correlation function is represented locally by a deep neural network. We substantiate the general framework for the hard sphere fluid and use grand canonical Monte Carlo simulation data of systems in randomized external environments during training and as reference.
