Objective: We evaluated the real-world cost-effectiveness of the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) for people with prediabetes in a large workforce with employer-sponsored health insurance.
Research Design And Methods: We performed difference-in-differences analyses using individual-level health insurance claims and survey data for 5,948 adults with prediabetes who enrolled (n = 575) or did not enroll (n = 5,373) in the NDPP to assess NDPP's effects on health economic outcomes. We assessed direct medical costs for the year before the NDPP enrollment/index date and for 2 years thereafter; EuroQol 5-Dimension 5-level questionnaire (EQ-5D-5L) utility scores at baseline, 1 year, and 2 years; and quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) over 2 years.
Objective: To determine whether the relationship between average glucose (AG) levels and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) differs across racial/ethnic groups.
Research Design And Methods: We performed a prospective substudy of GRADE, a comparative effectiveness randomized trial conducted in 36 centers in the U.S.
Rationale & Objective: Case-mix adjusted hemodialysis mortality has decreased since 1998. Many factors that influence mortality may have contributed to this trend, and these associations may differ by continental region. We studied changes in hemodialysis facility practices over time and their potential role in mediating changes in patient survival.

Few studies have evaluated diabetes risk associated with PBDEs. Little is known about the joint effect of exposure to POP mixtures on diabetes risk.

Based on data from the trial, this study aimed to assess the cost-effectiveness of diagnosis and treatment of early GDM (from <20 weeks') among women with risk factors for hyperglycemia in pregnancy compared with usual care (no treatment until 24-28 weeks') from a healthcare perspective.
Methods: Participants' healthcare resource utilization data were collected from their self-reported questionnaires and hospital records, and valued using the unit costs obtained from standard Australian national sources.
(1) Autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) is the most common cause of primary hypothyroidism and one of the most frequent organ-specific autoimmune diseases. Its pathogenesis is polygenic and still requires further research. The aim of the study was to assess, for the first time in the Caucasian population, the role of selected gene promoter polymorphisms (rs2071399 G/A, rs2071400C/T, rs2071402 A/G, and rs2071403 A/G) in the development of AIT.

Research Design And Methods: In the DPP, 3,234 adults ≥25 years old at high risk for diabetes were randomized to an intensive lifestyle (ILS), metformin, or placebo intervention to prevent diabetes. After the DPP ended, 2,779 joined the Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study (DPPOS).
The progression from prediabetes to type-2 diabetes depends on multiple pathophysiological, clinical, and epidemiological factors that generally overlap. Both insulin resistance and decreased insulin secretion are considered to be the main causes. The diagnosis and approach to the prediabetic patient are heterogeneous.

Dental data were collected from 80 type-2-diabetic individuals. A dental risk score was calculated based on the frequency of dental outcomes observed and categorized as low risk (≤3 dental outcomes) and high risk (>3 dental outcomes).

We evaluated the incidence of first occurrence, annual prevalence, remission, and risk factors for NP during long-term follow-up of participants with T1D.
Research Design And Methods: The Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument (MNSI) was administered annually (1994-2020) for 1,324 participants in the Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications (EDIC) study.
Objective: Diabetes is associated with reduced health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Information on the relationship between HRQoL and glucose-lowering medications in recently diagnosed type 2 diabetes (T2D) is limited. We assessed changes in HRQoL in participants with T2D receiving metformin plus one of four glucose-lowering medications in Glycemia Reduction Approaches in Diabetes: A Comparative Effectiveness Study (GRADE).

Children's behaviors are strongly influenced by parental behaviors, and weight loss in parents is positively associated with weight changes in their overweight/obese children. Research is limited on how parents' National Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) participation affects the health outcomes of their dependent children.
