Profiles of principal stress and coping: Concurrent and prospective correlates.

This study utilized latent profile analysis (LPA) to examine patterns of principal stress and coping and its relations with principal (n = 125), teacher (n = 3671), and student (n = 19,390) outcomes. LPA analysis of school principals based on their reports of stress and coping showed that most principals were classified as having high stress and high coping (74%) whereas 19% of principals were classified as high stress and low coping. Only a small percentage of principals (7%) were characterized by low stress and high coping.

Background And Purpose: Galectin-3 (Gal-3) is a pro-fibrotic β-galactoside binding lectin highly expressed in fibrotic liver and implicated in hepatic fibrosis. GB1107 is a novel orally active Gal-3 small molecule inhibitor that has high affinity for Gal-3 >1000-fold selectively over other galectins. The aim of this study was to characterise GB1107 and galectin-3 in vitro and in vivo in the context of fibrosis signalling and liver disease.

Transcriptomics reveals the regulation of the immune system of the mushroom-forming fungus Schizophyllum commune during interaction with four competitors.

Mushroom-forming fungi frequently encounter competitors during their lifecycle, but their defense mechanisms remain largely unexplored. We studied the response of the mushroom-forming fungus Schizophyllum commune during interaction with the fungal competitors Trichoderma harzianum, Trichoderma aggressivum and Purpureocillium lilacinum and the bacterial competitor Serratia quinivorans. Transcriptomics revealed 632 up-regulated genes in the direct interaction zone, which were enriched in small secreted proteins and transporters.

The special issue, "School Personnel Well-Being: Advancing Measurement, Best Practices, and Policy," showcases empirical quantitative and qualitative research that presents a range of social-ecological factors that directly and indirectly associate with school personnel well-being, trauma, and safety in prekindergarten through 12th grade schools. This introduction article represents Section 2 of the special issue reviewing eight articles that focus on the Role of Traumatic Experiences in Educator Well-Being. Collectively, these studies increase awareness of school personnel trauma experiences and make important contributions to the field.

The increase in social media mental health (MH) campaigns provides an opportunity to improve awareness and attitudes toward MH. However, racial disparities remain in these social media campaigns. Black youth who participated in MH social media campaigns reported lower levels of improvement in stigma and help-seeking than their White peers.

Atopic dermatitis and IgE-mediated food allergy: Common biologic targets for therapy and prevention.

Objective: To highlight common mechanistic targets for the treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD) and IgE-mediated food allergy (IgE-FA) with potential to be effective for both diseases and prevent atopic progression.

Data Sources: Data sources were PubMed searches or National Clinical Trials (NCT)-registered clinical trials related to AD, IgE-FA, and other atopic conditions, especially focused on the pediatric population.

Study Selections: Human seminal studies and/or articles published in the past decade were emphasized with reference to preclinical models when relevant.

Centering students' voices in the exploration of in-classroom culturally responsive practices.

Scholars have developed culturally responsive frameworks and interventions to support educators as they aim to create inclusive and equitable classroom environments. Despite the number of frameworks on the topic, research on culturally responsive practices (CRPs) is limited by the lack of clear definitions or evidence on the effectiveness of in-classroom culturally responsive interventions. With the aim to understand which characteristics are important for in-classroom CRPs, this qualitative study explored students' perceptions of practices teachers use to respond to students' learning and cultural identities.

Positive student-teacher relationships and exclusionary discipline practices.

Teacher-student relationships are beneficial for students and especially important in the middle school context. Suspensions are critical to reduce as it can be detrimental to the educational trajectory of students, particularly for marginalized students in underfunded schools. This study looked at the relations between teacher-student relationships and suspensions across the academic year in a sample of students (N = 541) and teachers (N = 51) in two urban school districts in the Midwest.

Comparison of outcomes of percutaneous deep venous arterialization in multiple practice settings.

Objective: We compared the efficacy of percutaneous deep venous arterialization (pDVA) in patients with no-option chronic limb-threatening ischemia in the hospital vs in office-based laboratory (OBL) settings.

Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed of all patients who underwent pDVA using off-the-shelf devices from January 2018 to March 2023 in a hospital and an OBL. We identified 73 eligible patients, 41 from a hospital setting (59% male; median age, 72 years; interquartile range, 18 years) and 32 from an OBL setting (59% males; 67 years; interquartile range, 16 years).

School personnel well-being: Advancing measurement, best practices, and policy-Section 1: The role of context and competence in educator well-being.

This special issue of School Psychology is focused on promoting scholarship on school personnel well-being and safety as well as systemic factors that can be leveraged to make schools healthier places for all. This includes understanding social-ecological factors related to educator sense of personal safety and wellness, as well as focusing on school psychologists' role in promoting adaptive school environments. In this introduction to the special issue, we provide a synthesis of nine articles that capture the role of context and competence in educator well-being.

Prevention of IgE-Mediated Food Allergy: Emerging Strategies Through Maternal and Neonatal Interventions.

Whereas the early introduction of highly allergenic foods has been shown to be effective at preventing the onset of food allergy (FA) in high-risk infants, sensitization to food antigens can occur prior to complementary food introduction, and thus, additional earlier FA prevention strategies are urgently needed. Currently, aside from early introduction of peanut and egg, no therapies are strongly recommended by international professional allergy societies for the primary prevention of FA. This review focuses on maternal- and neonatal-directed interventions that are being actively investigated and developed, including maternal dietary factors and supplementation, specific elimination diets, breastfeeding, cow's milk formula supplementation, microbiome manipulations, bacterial lysate therapy, and skin barrier therapies.

Acceleration of Graph Neural Network-Based Prediction Models in Chemistry via Co-Design Optimization on Intelligence Processing Units.

Atomic structure prediction and associated property calculations are the bedrock of chemical physics. Since high-fidelity ab initio modeling techniques for computing the structure and properties can be prohibitively expensive, this motivates the development of machine-learning (ML) models that make these predictions more efficiently. Training graph neural networks over large atomistic databases introduces unique computational challenges, such as the need to process millions of small graphs with variable size and support communication patterns that are distinct from learning over large graphs, such as social networks.
