This study utilized latent profile analysis (LPA) to examine patterns of principal stress and coping and its relations with principal (n = 125), teacher (n = 3671), and student (n = 19,390) outcomes. LPA analysis of school principals based on their reports of stress and coping showed that most principals were classified as having high stress and high coping (74%) whereas 19% of principals were classified as high stress and low coping. Only a small percentage of principals (7%) were characterized by low stress and high coping.

Galectin-1 is implicated in several pro-tumourigenic mechanisms and is considered immune-suppressive. The pharmacological inhibition of galectin-1 may be beneficial in cancers in which galectin-1 is overexpressed and driving cancer progression. Mushroom-forming fungi frequently encounter competitors during their lifecycle, but their defense mechanisms remain largely unexplored. We studied the response of the mushroom-forming fungus Schizophyllum commune during interaction with the fungal competitors Trichoderma harzianum, Trichoderma aggressivum and Purpureocillium lilacinum and the bacterial competitor Serratia quinivorans. Transcriptomics revealed 632 up-regulated genes in the direct interaction zone, which were enriched in small secreted proteins and transporters.

In contrast to inborn errors of immunity (IEI), which are inherited disorders of the immune system that predispose to infections, malignancy, atopy, and immune dysregulation, secondary immunodeficiencies and immune dysregulation states (SID) are acquired impairments in immune cell function and/or regulation, and may be transient, reversible, or permanent. SIDs can derive from a variety of medical comorbidities, including protein-losing conditions, malnutrition, malignancy, certain genetic syndromes, prematurity, and chronic infections. Medications, including immunosuppressive and chemotherapeutic drugs, can have profound effects on immunity and biologic agents used in rheumatology, neurology, and hematology/oncology practice are increasingly common causes of SID.

Objective: We compared the efficacy of percutaneous deep venous arterialization (pDVA) in patients with no-option chronic limb-threatening ischemia in the hospital vs in office-based laboratory (OBL) settings.

Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed of all patients who underwent pDVA using off-the-shelf devices from January 2018 to March 2023 in a hospital and an OBL. We identified 73 eligible patients, 41 from a hospital setting (59% male; median age, 72 years; interquartile range, 18 years) and 32 from an OBL setting (59% males; 67 years; interquartile range, 16 years).

Whereas the early introduction of highly allergenic foods has been shown to be effective at preventing the onset of food allergy (FA) in high-risk infants, sensitization to food antigens can occur prior to complementary food introduction, and thus, additional earlier FA prevention strategies are urgently needed. Currently, aside from early introduction of peanut and egg, no therapies are strongly recommended by international professional allergy societies for the primary prevention of FA. This review focuses on maternal- and neonatal-directed interventions that are being actively investigated and developed, including maternal dietary factors and supplementation, specific elimination diets, breastfeeding, cow's milk formula supplementation, microbiome manipulations, bacterial lysate therapy, and skin barrier therapies.

Atomic structure prediction and associated property calculations are the bedrock of chemical physics. Since high-fidelity ab initio modeling techniques for computing the structure and properties can be prohibitively expensive, this motivates the development of machine-learning (ML) models that make these predictions more efficiently. Training graph neural networks over large atomistic databases introduces unique computational challenges, such as the need to process millions of small graphs with variable size and support communication patterns that are distinct from learning over large graphs, such as social networks.
