Background: Monitoring the incidence of chronic health conditions (CHCs) in childhood in England, using administrative data to derive numerators and denominators, is challenged by unmeasured migration. We used open and closed birth cohort designs to estimate the cumulative incidence of CHCs to age 16 years.

Background: Remote home monitoring services emerged as critical components of health care delivery from NHS England during the COVID-19 pandemic, aiming to provide timely interventions and reduce health care system burden. Two types of service were offered: referral by community health services to home-based care to ensure the right people were admitted to the hospital at the right time (called COVID Oximetry@home, CO@h); and referral by hospital to support patients' transition from hospital to home (called COVID-19 Virtual Ward, CVW). Immunotactoid deposition is a rare fibrillary deposition disease that is primarily seen in the kidney and is associated with paraproteinemia. Here, we report a case of hepatic immunotactoid deposition in a 67-year-old male with a history of smoldering myeloma and chronic kidney disease who underwent liver transplantation for metabolic dysfunction-related cirrhosis. Immunotactoid deposition was first identified in the explanted liver and recurred in the allograft within only 7 weeks following transplantation, presenting as ascites with normal liver function tests.

In coronavirus disease-19 biopsies, detection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 was rare with no evidence of viral replication, whereas autopsy tissue failed quality control. In patients with FSGS, apolipoprotein L1 expression differed by degree of immune cell infiltrates, with some podocytes exhibiting up to 18-fold higher expression. In COVAN, the predicted high induction of apolipoprotein L1 expression occurs in a pattern consistent with the stochastic nature of FSGS pathology.

Purpose Of Review: This review discusses the important role of staining for components of the complement cascade in both native and transplant kidney biopsies. The use of complement staining as a marker of prognosis, disease activity, and as a potential future tool in identifying patients who may benefit from complement-targeted therapies is discussed.

Recent Findings: While staining for C3, C1q and C4d can yield valuable information about complement activation in kidney biopsies, to adequately assess complement activation and potential therapeutic targets, expanded staining panels looking at multiple split products and complement regulatory proteins are needed.
