Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) is a pioneering technique that has consistently advanced the field of prenatal testing to detect genetic abnormalities and conditions with the aim of decreasing the incidence and prevalence of inherited conditions. NIPT remains a method of choice for common autosomal aneuploidies, mostly trisomy 21, and several monogenic disorders. The advancements in gene sequencing techniques have expanded the panel of conditions where NIPT could be offered.

Design: Pilot study.
Setting: Academic medical center.
Individuals differ greatly in their sensitivity to rewards and punishments. In the extreme, these differences are implicated in a range of psychiatric disorders from addiction to depression. However, it is unclear how these differences influence the recruitment of attention, working memory, and long-term memory when responding to potential rewards.

The response modulation hypothesis of psychopathy states that psychopaths' inability to adapt their behavior to changing circumstances results from an inability to process peripheral cues in the midst of a dominant response. The current study examined this relationship between psychopathic traits and response modulation using a lexical decision stop signal task and event-related potentials to assess deficits in stimulus and error processing. Overall, the impulsive antisocial (IA) factor of psychopathy was related to poor behavioral performance, particularly in relation to response inhibition.

This association is proposed to have useful economic consequences in ameliorating hydrogen sulfide toxicity and associated Akiochi or Straighthead disease in lowland rice cultivation.

With this dual localization method, (3H)-DHT target sites can be visualized in relation to catecholamine perikarya and terminals. In the hindbrain, catecholamine neurons adjacent to the fourth ventricle (group A4), the nucleus (n.

By the combined use of autoradiography and fluorescence histochemistry, steroid hormone target sites and catecholamine neurons were visualized simultaneously in the same tissue preparation. By this dual localization method, [3H]estradiol and [3H]dihydrotestosterone target sites were identified in nuclei of many catecholamine cell bodies in the brainstem, and catecholamine nerve terminals were observed near certain steroid hormone target neurons.

Cell-free preparation of Clostridium sphenoides degraded the insecticide lindane, the gamma-isomer of 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexachlorocyclohexane, to the gamma-isomer of 3,4,5,6-tetrachloro-1-cyclohexene. The activity appeared to be associated with the membrane fraction and required reduced glutathione. The tetrachlorocy-clohexene intermediate was further metabolized by the membrane fraction to unknown substances.

Washed cell suspensions of Clostridium sphenoides degraded the alpha-isomer of 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexachlorocyclohexane via delta-3,4,5,6-tetrachloro-1-cyclohexene and the gamma-isomer via gamma-3,4,5,6-tetrachloro-1-cyclohexene. Both intermediates were further metabolized to unknown substances. The tetrachlorocyclohexene intermediates were identified by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.
