Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the effectiveness of fetal cardiovascular MRI with Doppler ultrasound gating to the more traditional fetal echocardiography in diagnosing heart issues in fetuses.
  • Conducted on 29 pregnant women, the research showed that both methods had high sensitivity and specificity in detecting cardiac abnormalities, with MRI scoring an 88% sensitivity and echocardiography at 100%.
  • The results suggest that fetal cardiovascular MRI could serve as a useful additional tool for diagnosing congenital heart defects prenatally, given its comparable performance to echocardiography.

Objectives: Assessment of myocardial strain by feature tracking magnetic resonance imaging (FT-MRI) in human fetuses with and without congenital heart disease (CHD) using cardiac Doppler ultrasound (DUS) gating.

Methods: A total of 43 human fetuses (gestational age 28-41 weeks) underwent dynamic cardiac MRI at 3 T. Cine balanced steady-state free-precession imaging was performed using fetal cardiac DUS gating.

Objective: Acute trauma care has significantly reduced mortality over the last two decades. The last study to examine the epidemiology of traumatic amputees predates these gains. The majority of those who sustain traumatic amputation are male; therefore, limited data exist on female amputees.

Objectives: To evaluate the feasibility of Doppler-ultrasound (DUS)-gated 4D flow MRI of the fetal great thoracic vessels at 3T in a clinical setting.

Methods: Sixteen consecutive fetuses (range 30-38 weeks) with (n = 11) and without (n = 5) cardiovascular anomalies underwent 4D flow MRI of the great thoracic vessels at 3T. Direct fetal cardiac gating was obtained using a MR-compatible DUS device.

Unmethylated CpG oligodeoxynucleotides (ODN) bind to the Toll-like receptor 9, thus stimulating the immune system. To study the effects of systemic pretreatment with CpG ODN on dermal regeneration, C57BL6/J Tyr mice were treated with CpG or control ODN 6 days prior to implantation of a dorsal skinfold chamber and skin wounding. Wound epithelialization was analyzed by planimetric microscopy.
