[The effectiveness of arthroscopic debridement and lavage treatment in osteoarthritis of the hip: preliminary results].

Objectives: We evaluated the early results of arthroscopic debridement and lavage procedure in osteoarthritis of the hip.

Methods: The hips of 13 patients (7 women, 6 men; mean age 52 years; range 29 to 74 years) were treated by arthroscopic debridement and lavage in lateral position under general anesthesia. Ten patients had primary coxarthrosis; it was due to acetabular dysplasia in two patients, and to avascular necrosis of the femoral head in one patient.

A 2-staged method for treatment of deep osteochondral lesions of the knee joint.

We performed a 2-staged arthroscopic-assisted surgical procedure to treat a patient with a large osteochondral lesion of the knee joint. The osteochondral lesion was too comminuted to reattach; in addition, the underlying bony defect was too deep. In the first stage, autogenous cortical bone was used for grafting the bony defect along with screw fixation.
