Cost-utility analysis of stereotactic body radiotherapy plus cetuximab in previously irradiated recurrent squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.

Background: This study aimed to estimate the cost-utility of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) plus cetuximab for patients with previously irradiated recurrent squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.

Methods: We constructed a Markov health-state transition model to simulate costs and clinical outcomes of recurrent squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. Model parameters were derived from the published literature and the National Health Insurance Administration reimbursement price list.

Network meta-analysis of treatment regimens for inoperable advanced hepatocellular carcinoma with portal vein invasion.

Purpose: We assessed the efficacy and safety of different modalities using the network meta-analysis for inoperable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with portal vein invasion. The interested modalities included stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) combined with transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), three-dimensional radiotherapy (3D-RT) combined with hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) or TACE, TACE plus sorafenib, and use of SBRT, HAIC, sorafenib, and TACE alone.

Methods: PubMed and Cochrane Library electronic databases were systematically searched for eligible studies published up to June 2017.

Abscopal effect of radiation on bone metastases of breast cancer: A case report.

The abscopal effect is defined as the clearance of distant tumors after applying localized irradiation to a particular tumor site. It has been proposed that a mechanism for the abscopal effect might be the activation of the immune system, which leads to immunogenic tumor cell death. Here, we describe a woman with advanced breast cancer that received modified ablative radiation therapy that targeted her primary breast tumor.

Oxidative stress involvement in Physalis angulata-induced apoptosis in human oral cancer cells.

In this report, we investigated the role of oxidative stress in Physalis angulata-induced apoptosis of human oral cancer cells. P. angulata-induced apoptosis was characterized by nuclear morphological changes, membrane blebbing and activation of caspase-9.

P38-associated pathway involvement in apoptosis induced by photodynamic therapy with Lonicera japonica in human lung squamous carcinoma CH27 cells.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an effective therapy for local malignant tumors. Lonicera japonica was found to have the anti-tumor effect. The aim of this study is to explore the mechanisms of apoptosis induced by PDT in lung CH27 carcinoma cells with alcohol extract from Lonicera japonica as photosensitizer.

Kaempferol induces apoptosis in human lung non-small carcinoma cells accompanied by an induction of antioxidant enzymes.

Kaempferol (3, 4',5,7-tetrahydroxyflavone) is one of the most commonly found dietary flavonols. The biological and pharmacological effects of kaempferol may depend upon its behavior as either an antioxidant or a prooxidant. However, the clear biological effects of prooxidant or antioxidant character of kaempferol has not been clarified yet.
