The role of MR imaging in the diagnosis and management of patients who have uterine malignancy continues to evolve. MR imaging has been shown to be effective for preoperative characterization and staging of endometrial and cervical carcinoma, and for the evaluation of posttreatment changes and recurrent disease. Because of its potential to provide detailed information about local extent and metastatic disease, MR imaging has enormous potential to help triage patients to appropriate treatment groups and provide imaging surveillance after therapy.
