Copper compounds with artificial metallo-nuclease (AMN) activity are mechanistically unique compared to established metallodrugs. Here, we describe the development of a new dinuclear copper AMN, Cu2-BPL-C6 (BPL-C6 = bis-1,10-phenanthroline-carbon-6), prepared using click chemistry that demonstrates site-specific DNA recognition with low micromolar cleavage activity. The BPL-C6 ligand was designed to force two redox-active copper centres-central for enhancing AMN activity-to bind DNA, via two phenanthroline ligands separated by an aliphatic linker.

This study sought to define principles for ethical application of educational POCUS and develop consensus-based best practice guidance.
Methods: A questionnaire was developed by a trained ethicist after literature review with the help of a medical librarian.
We report a new class of carboplatin-TFO hybrid that incorporates a bifunctional alkyne-amine nucleobase monomer called AP-C3-dT that enables dual 'click' platinum(ii) drug conjugation and thiazole orange fluorophore coupling. Thiazole orange enhances the binding of Pt(ii)-TFO hybrids and provides an intrinsic method for monitoring triplex formation. These hybrid constructs possess increased stabilisation and crosslinking properties in comparison to earlier Pt(ii)-TFOs, and demonstrate sequence-specific binding at neutral pH.

In this paper, we develop a model of detector quantum efficiency (QE) as a function of Si-SiO interface and oxide trap densities to analyze the performance of silicon detectors and explore the requirements for stable, radiation-hardened surface passivation. By analyzing QE data acquired before, during, and after, exposure to damaging UV radiation, we explore the physical and chemical mechanisms underlying UV-induced surface damage, variable surface charge, QE, and stability in ion-implanted and delta-doped detectors.

Methods: This study reviewed the spectrum of the demographic, clinical, temporal, and microbiological trends of laboratory confirmed Pasteurella species infections presenting to a single-centre tropical tertiary hospital over a twenty-year period.
Results: 195 episodes from 190 patients were included.
Background: Low uptake of presymptomatic testing and medically assisted reproduction in families impacted by neurogenetic diseases prompted us to investigate how reproductive options are considered and whether there is a relationship with perceived severity of the disease. We hypothesised that self-estimated severity would influence opinion on reproductive options and that prenatal/preimplantation diagnosis would be a motivation to inform relatives about their risk.
Methods: We invited people impacted by neurogenetic diseases to evaluate the severity of their familial disease using analogic visual scales and to answer questionnaires about reproductive choices and intrafamilial communication.
