This study sought to define principles for ethical application of educational POCUS and develop consensus-based best practice guidance.

We report a new class of carboplatin-TFO hybrid that incorporates a bifunctional alkyne-amine nucleobase monomer called AP-C3-dT that enables dual 'click' platinum(ii) drug conjugation and thiazole orange fluorophore coupling. Thiazole orange enhances the binding of Pt(ii)-TFO hybrids and provides an intrinsic method for monitoring triplex formation. These hybrid constructs possess increased stabilisation and crosslinking properties in comparison to earlier Pt(ii)-TFOs, and demonstrate sequence-specific binding at neutral pH.

Radiation-induced damage and instabilities in back-illuminated silicon detectors have proved to be challenging in multiple NASA and commercial applications. In this paper, we develop a model of detector quantum efficiency (QE) as a function of Si-SiO interface and oxide trap densities to analyze the performance of silicon detectors and explore the requirements for stable, radiation-hardened surface passivation. By analyzing QE data acquired before, during, and after, exposure to damaging UV radiation, we explore the physical and chemical mechanisms underlying UV-induced surface damage, variable surface charge, QE, and stability in ion-implanted and delta-doped detectors.

Exploring the Preferences of Parents of Children with Myopia in Rural China for Eye Care Services Under Privatization Policy: Evidence from a Discrete Choice Experiment.

Objectives: This study aims to measure the preferences and valuations of parents of students with myopia parents for eye care service attributes in rural China, and to quantify the potential welfare impacts of privatization policy on children's eye care services.

Methods: A discrete choice experiment was designed and implemented among a sample of parents of children with myopia in rural China. We randomly selected 350 participants from the list of subjects obtained from local town schools and family doctors using a random number table method.

Here, we demonstrate how the 1,2,3-triazole linker produced by the Cu-catalysed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction can be directed to build Cu-binding AMN scaffolds. We selected biologically inert reaction partners tris(azidomethyl)mesitylene and ethynyl-thiophene to develop TC-Thio, a bioactive C -symmetric ligand in which three thiophene-triazole moieties are positioned around a central mesitylene core.

Characterisation of Corynebacterium diphtheriae isolates in the Northern Territory of Australia.

This article summarises our review of 41 Corynebacterium diphtheriae wound swab isolates from the tropical Northern Territory of Australia. On polymerase chain reaction and whole genome sequencing, no isolates were toxigenic strains.

Territorial vocalization patterns of captive Asiatic lions (Panthera leo persica) in the middle of winter at high latitude.

Wild lions, especially the males, spend much of their time performing various territorial advertising behaviors, the most obvious of which are loud vocalizations that can be heard several kilometers away. This study investigated whether a captive pride of three Asiatic lions at Fota Wildlife Park in Ireland exhibited typical patterns of territorial vocalizations and associated behaviors. A total of 705 bouts of territorial vocalization were noted over 1 month of near-continuous audio recording in the middle of winter in 2020.

Spectrum of human Pasteurella species infections in tropical Australia.

Background: Acquired zoonotic infections with Pasteurella bacterial species have a wide clinical spectrum of disease from invasive infections to localised bite-wound infections.

Methods: This study reviewed the spectrum of the demographic, clinical, temporal, and microbiological trends of laboratory confirmed Pasteurella species infections presenting to a single-centre tropical tertiary hospital over a twenty-year period.

Results: 195 episodes from 190 patients were included.

Reproductive choices and intrafamilial communication in neurogenetic diseases with different self-estimated severities.

Background: Low uptake of presymptomatic testing and medically assisted reproduction in families impacted by neurogenetic diseases prompted us to investigate how reproductive options are considered and whether there is a relationship with perceived severity of the disease. We hypothesised that self-estimated severity would influence opinion on reproductive options and that prenatal/preimplantation diagnosis would be a motivation to inform relatives about their risk.

Methods: We invited people impacted by neurogenetic diseases to evaluate the severity of their familial disease using analogic visual scales and to answer questionnaires about reproductive choices and intrafamilial communication.

Nitroglycerin Use in the Emergency Department: Current Perspectives.

Nitroglycerin, a fast-acting vasodilator, is commonly used as a first-line agent for angina in the emergency department and to manage chest pain due to acute coronary syndromes. It is also a treatment option for other disease states such as acute heart failure, pulmonary edema, and aortic dissection. Nitroglycerin is converted to nitric oxide, a potent vasodilator, in the body, leading to venodilation at lower dosages and arteriodilation at higher dosages that results in both preload and afterload reduction, respectively.

Randomized Controlled Trial of a Novel Silicone Device for the Packing of Cutaneous Abscesses in the Emergency Department: A Pilot Study.

Objective: Traditional treatment of abscesses in the emergency department includes packing with gauze; however, this can add pain and discomfort to the procedure and frequently involves a follow-up visit for packing removal. Early social distancing policies in Europe, changes in mobility & COVID-19 case trajectories: Insights from Spring 2020.

Background: Social distancing have been widely used to mitigate community spread of SARS-CoV-2. We sought to quantify the impact of COVID-19 social distancing policies across 27 European counties in spring 2020 on population mobility and the subsequent trajectory of disease.

Methods: We obtained data on national social distancing policies from the Oxford COVID-19 Government Response Tracker and aggregated and anonymized mobility data from Google.

Social distancing remains an important strategy to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. However, the impacts of specific state-level policies on mobility and subsequent COVID-19 case trajectories have not been completely quantified. Using anonymized and aggregated mobility data from opted-in Google users, we found that state-level emergency declarations resulted in a 9.
