The most important feature of sentinel node biopsy for prostate cancer procedure is that staging can be improved. Sentinel nodes might be found outside the extended pelvic lymph node dissection template what renders the sentinel node additive of extended pelvic lymph node dissection. At the same time, staging within the template can be further refined.

Objectives: To summarize the current status of clinicopathological and molecular markers for the prediction of recurrence or progression or both in non-muscle-invasive and survival in muscle-invasive urothelial bladder cancer, to address the reproducibility of pathology and molecular markers, and to provide directions toward implementation of molecular markers in future clinical decision making.

Methods And Materials: Immunohistochemistry, gene signatures, and FGFR3-based molecular grading were used as molecular examples focussing on prognostics and issues related to robustness of pathological and molecular assays.

Results: The role of molecular markers to predict recurrence is limited, as clinical variables are currently more important.

Preclinical studies show that stroma affects sensitivity of prostate cancer cells via activation of the CXCR4/CXCL12 pathway. Here we studied the effect of CXCR4 inhibition combined with irradiation in prostate cancer cells. In an in vitro co-culture with stromal cells, the CXCR4 inhibitor AMD3100 sensitized prostate cancer cell lines PC3-Luc and LNCaP to irradiation (P = 0.

Objective: To test the expandability of active surveillance (AS) to Gleason score 3+4 cancers by assessing the unfavorable disease risk in a large multi-institutional cohort.

Materials And Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis including 2,323 patients with localized Gleason score 3+4 prostate cancer who underwent a radical prostatectomy between 2005 and 2013 from 6 academic centers. We analyzed the rates of biopsy downgrading/upgrading and advanced stage in the overall cohort by employing standardized AS criteria (using biopsy Gleason score 3+4).

In this retrospective pilot study, the expression of the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), the epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM), the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and the gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR) in locally recurrent prostate cancer after brachytherapy or external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) was investigated, and their adequacy for targeted imaging was analyzed. Prostate cancer specimens were collected of 17 patients who underwent salvage prostatectomy because of locally recurrent prostate cancer after brachytherapy or EBRT. Immunohistochemistry was performed.

Background: Sentinel node (SN) biopsy in penile cancer is typically performed using a combination of radiocolloid and blue dye. Recently, the hybrid radioactive and fluorescent tracer indocyanine green (ICG)-(99m)Tc-nanocolloid was developed to combine the beneficial properties of both radio-guidance and fluorescence imaging.

Objective: To explore the added value of SN biopsy using ICG-(99m)Tc-nanocolloid in patients with penile carcinoma.
