Article Synopsis
  • Strychni Semen has shown anti-tumor properties against non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but its molecular mechanisms require further investigation.
  • The study utilized network pharmacology and molecular docking to identify 21 active components and 67 targets related to NSCLC, with key findings showing strong interactions between the components and core targets such as PTGS2 and NR3C1.
  • Pathway analysis indicated that Strychni Semen's therapeutic effects on NSCLC primarily involve the Calcium, Estrogen, and cGMP-PKG/cAMP pathways, helping to elucidate its underlying mechanisms of action.

As a pivotal defensive line against multitudinous malignant tumors, natural killer (NK) cells exist in the tumor microenvironment (TME). RAD18 E3 Ubiquitin Protein Ligase (RAD18) has been reported to foster the malignant progression of multiple cancers, but its effect on NK function has not been mined. Here, the study was designed to mine the mechanism by which RAD18 regulates the killing effect of NK cells on colorectal cancer (CRC) cells.

Objective: To establish a novel approach for diagnosing early- and midstage esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).

Methods: The tumor suppressor gene phospholysine phosphohistidine inorganic pyrophosphate phosphatase (LHPP)-based miRNA signature was identified using next-generation sequencing and 3 biological online prediction systems. This retrospective study established and validated an ESCC prediction model using a test cohort and a validation cohort.

Radiotherapy (RT) is an important anti-cancer treatment modality that activates innate and adaptive immune responses. When all-trans retinoic acid (RA) was administered with radiation, we observed superior antitumor responses compared to ionizing radiation (IR) alone or RA alone. The superior antitumor effects of combination treatment were accompanied by a dramatic increase of TNF-α- and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS)-producing inflammatory macrophages in local and distal non-irradiated (distal) tumors.
