Objectives: To evaluate (1) the association between nailfold capillaroscopy pattern and 5-year risk for incident interstitial lung disease and (2) the association between transition in nailfold capillaroscopy pattern and risk of incident interstitial lung disease.
Methods: Data of adult patients from the EUSTAR database fulfilling the ACR-EULAR criteria with a disease duration ⩽5 years, having a scleroderma pattern at nailfold capillaroscopy with high-resolution computed tomography confirmed absence of interstitial lung disease (i.e.
Background: Adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) is a rare autoinflammatory disease. Since it can lead to variable organ involvement, including life-threatening complications, and due to newly available therapeutic approaches, the German Society for Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Rheumatologie und klinische Immunologie; DGRh) issued a newly developed S2e guideline in December 2022.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the influence of the new guideline on the diagnosis, management, and outcomes of AOSD.
Background And Objective: Patient education is an integral component of the treatment of axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA). However, the validated tools currently available for assessing disease-related knowledge are outdated and, in the case of axSpA, only available in English. The aims of this work were therefore (1) to develop a German-language tool for assessing disease-specific knowledge among axSpA patients and (2) to assess this tool in a pilot study.

But treatment related morbidity and mortality have to be considered. To date, data on major physical and psychological impacts of aHSCT are scarce.

Our aim was to examine whether an improvement in skin fibrosis predicts lower likelihood of visceral organ progression and better survival.
Methods: Patients from the European Scleroderma Trials and Research (EUSTAR) cohort with dcSSc, baseline modified Rodnan skin score (mRSS) ≥7, and valid mRSS at 12±3 months follow up were included.
Introduction: Systemic sclerosis is a complex disease that affects various target organs, making it difficult to assess response and determine remission or relapse. A baseline Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) >2.95 is associated with severe progressive skin and lung disease and decreased 5-year survival in systemic sclerosis (SSc).

Anti-Muellerian hormone (AMH) is produced by the granulosa cells of ovarian follicles. It serves as a sensitive laboratory parameter for assessing ovarian reserve. A reduced ovarian reserve has been observed in patients with various autoimmune diseases.

In pharmacoepidemiology, robust data are needed to judge the impact of drug treatment on pregnancy, pregnancy outcomes and breast-fed infants. As pregnant and breastfeeding women are usually excluded from randomised clinical trials, observational studies are required. One of those data sources are pregnancy registers specifically developed to focus on certain diseases or disease groups.

Phase II studies are about to start, but up to now, only case reports and small series have been published. In contrast to hemato-oncological diseases, where an aggressive response to malignant cells and long-lasting persistence of CAR T cells has been aimed at and observed in many patients, this is not the case with autoimmune diseases but might not be necessary to control disease.

Therefore, other manifestations, such as orofacial involvement, are often not of primary concern. Furthermore, due to its rarity, the disease might not be well known by dentists, which contrasts with the increased risk of various problems in the oral cavity.

Previously, patients with an mPAP between 21 and 24 mm Hg were classified in a "gray zone" of unclear clinical significance.
Research Question: What is the diagnostic performance of the main parameters used for PH screening in detecting patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) with an mPAP of 21 to 24 mm Hg at RHC?
Study Design And Methods: Patients with SSc from the European Scleroderma Trials and Research (EUSTAR) database with available tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE), systolic PAP (sPAP), and mPAP data were included.
Autoimmune diseases (ADs) represent a heterogeneous group of conditions affecting 5-10% of the global population. In recent decades, hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT), mainly autologous, has been successfully adopted to treat patients affected by severe/refractory ADs. In this context malnutrition has a detrimental impact on relapse, mortality, infection rate, engraftment, long-term survival, and prolongation of hospitalization.

There is an abundance of studies which are conducted in a randomised controlled trial setting but limited with respect to cohort size and follow-up time. GeVas is the first large-scale registry for vasculitides in German-speaking countries that enables to evaluate this rare disease.

Therefore, the Joint Vasculitis Registry in German-speaking countries (GeVas) has been established to follow the course of patients with AAV. The aim of this study is to present baseline data of patients with newly diagnosed and relapsing AAV enrolled in the GeVas registry.

Methods And Results: We enrolled 239 patients with symptomatic MR of grade 2 + , who received M-TEER. All patients underwent extensive pre-interventional invasive hemodynamic measurements via right heart catheterization (mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP), systolic- (PAPsys) and diastolic pulmonary arterial pressure (PAPdia), pulmonary arterial wedge pressure (PAWP), a-wave, v-wave, pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR), transpulmonary pressure gradient (TPG), cardiac index (CI), stroke volume index (SVI)).
Objectives: Antinuclear antibodies (ANA) of the IgE-type have been described in several connective tissue disorders (CTD) but not yet in systemic sclerosis (SSc). Aim of the study was, therefore, to establish an ELISA for the demonstration of IgE-autoantibodies to topoisomerase-I (topo-I) and the centromeric proteins A and B (CENP-A/B), to assess their prevalence and reactivity in SSc and to analyse their clinical relevance.
Methods: One hundred fifty-one patients with SSc and 88 with CREST-syndrome, 291 patients with other CTD, and 23 patients with fibromyalgia syndrome (FM) as a control collective were included into the study.
Background: Treatment with high-dose chemotherapy followed by autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (aHSCT) is an intensive treatment option for patients with severe forms of systemic sclerosis (SSc). Even though associated with a high treatment related mortality, the results in this high-risk population are generally favourable. The knowledge on the potential mechanism of action of this therapy and how it can improve patients with SSc is crucial to better select the right patients for aHSCT.

Recently, novel cellular therapies (CT), including mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC), Chimeric Antigen Receptors T cells (CART) and regulatory T cells (Tregs), have been successfully adopted in ADs. An international expert panel of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation and the International Society for the Cell and Gene Therapy, reviewed all available evidence, based on the current literature and expert practices, on use of MSC, CART and Tregs, in AD patients with rheumatological, neurological, and gastroenterological indications.

Methods: From September 2017 for patients with CAPS, and June 2018 for patients with FMF, TRAPS or MKD/HIDS, the registry enrolled paediatric (aged ≥2 years) and adult patients (aged ≥18 years) receiving canakinumab as part of their routine medical care. Safety, canakinumab dose, disease activity and quality of life outcome measures were evaluated at baseline and every 6 months until end of study visit.
