A chemo-drug such as cisplatin is effective for cancer treatment but remains non-specific, is susceptible to drug resistance, and induces several side effects on organ systems. Zeolitic imidazolate framework-8, a type of MOF, has gained attention, including as a drug delivery method for targeted cancer therapeutics. In this study, ZIF-8/Silica nanocomposite was synthesized using a one-pot hydrothermal technique using the Stober technique.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis incidence has been rising in the past couple of decades. Standard therapy often includes antileishmanial drugs; however, due to their low safety and toxicity threshold, alternative treatments are being investigated. The association between COVID-19 and cutaneous leishmaniasis remains unclear and exploring this connection may offer crucial insights into the pathophysiology of and treatment strategies for infected patients.

Adverse events following vaccinations have been noted for centuries, but as of recently, discussions concerning these adverse effects have increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent delivery of vaccinations. Through presenting new cases of such adverse events and reviewing the literature, we aim to facilitate the recognition of COVID-19 vaccine-induced autoimmune diseases that may occur in the years after the pandemic has been contained. We report on a case of biopsy-proven morphea after the COVID-19 vaccine, in which case the patient developed diffuse skin lesions all over her body.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, several reports around the world indicated that the novel coronavirus could be associated with specific dermatologic manifestations. Among earlier articles, encountered features included erythematous maculopapular exanthems, chilblains-like acral skin lesions, vesicular, and urticarial rashes. We describe the first case of Jacquet erosive diaper dermatitis in a 17-month-old girl with a confirmed COVID-19 infection.

Background: One of the many identities a physician comes to form during their career is their identity as an educator. Exploring formation of this identity may enrich our understanding of how physicians make decisions related to their roles as educators, their behaviors, and how this ultimately influences the educational environment. It is the aim of this study to investigate educator identity formation of dermatology residents while early in their careers.

Aim: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome, and if untreated, it may propagate into end-stage liver disease. The classical arm of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) has a fundamental role in triggering oxidative stress and inflammation, which play potential roles in the pathogenesis of NAFLD. However, the nonclassical alternative axis of RAS, angiotensin- (Ang-) converting enzyme 2 (ACE2)/Ang (1-7)/Mas receptor, opposes the actions of the classical arm, mitigates the metabolic dysfunction, and improves hepatic lipid metabolism rendering it a promising protective target against NAFLD.
