PKM2 functions as a potential oncogene and is a crucial target of miR-148a and miR-326 in thyroid tumorigenesis.

In this study, we investigated the biological function of pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2) and its regulation by deregulated microRNAs (miRNAs) in thyroid cancer (TC). The mRNA and protein expression of PKM2 was examined by quantitative reverse transcription PCR and western blot. The biological role of PKM2 was demonstrated through small interfering RNA-mediated knockdown experiments.
