When aqueous solutions of KSCN and Hg(CN) were mixed, we observed the formation of long, needle-shaped single crystals with an unexpected structure and a formula of KHg(CN)(SCN). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that the CN ligands remain confined to the two apical positions of Hg(II) without forming an extended network. Instead, the sulphur atoms create a layered structure by forming four S-Hg bonds (3.

A convenient and effective synthetic approach for benzochalcogendiazole-based small molecules has been achieved using polyaniline (PANI)-anchored palladium as a heterogeneous catalyst. The photophysical properties of the synthesized benzochalcogendiazole-based small molecules, having different terminal substituents, have been compared. Moreover, the structural aspects, including the packing patterns and non-bonding interactions of the conjugated molecules, have been investigated using the single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) technique.

(p-Chloroanilinium)2CuCl4(C2H14Cl6CuN2) is from an important family of organic-inorganic layered hybrid compounds which can be a possible candidate for multiferroicity. In situ high pressure FTIR, Raman and resistivity measurements on this compound indicate the weakening of Jahn-Teller distortion and the consequent removal of puckering of the CuCl6(4-) octahedra within the layer. These effects trigger insulator to semiconductor phase transition along with a change in the sample colour from yellow to dark red.

Molecular crystals demonstrate drastically different behavior in solid and liquid state, mainly due to their difference in structural frameworks. Therefore, designing of unique structured molecular compound which can work at both these interfaces has been a challenge. Here, we present remarkable 'molecular' property by non-porous molecular solid crystal, dinuclear copper complex (C6H5CH(X)NH2)2CuCl2, to reversibly 'adsorb' HCl gas at solid-gas interface as well as 'accommodate' azide anion at solid-liquid interface with crystal to crystal transformation.

The aim of this research work was to investigate a series of novel 5,6-diaryl-1,2,4-triazines (3a-3q) containing 3-morpholinoethylamine side chain, and to address their antiplatelet activity by in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo methods. All compounds were synthesized by environment benign route and their structures were unambiguously confirmed by spectral data. Compounds (3l) and (3m) were confirmed by their single crystal X-ray structures.

Racemic sample of 2,2',7,7'-tetrahydroxy-1,1'-binaphthyl was resolved with ()-proline and the separated enantiomers were independently converted to atropisomeric bis-oxazines by aromatic Mannich reaction. These chirally pure oxazines were then converted to the helicene like cyclic ethers. The Circularly Polarized Luminescence (CPL) profile was consistent with the isolation of the targeted helical-like molecules in optically pure form, prepared from the achiral primary amines.
