The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of MCM6, in comparison with Ki-67, in two series of grade 1 and 2 meningiomas, and to evaluate its correlation with methylation classes. The first cohort included 100 benign (grade 1, World Health Organization 2021) meningiomas, and the second 69 atypical meningiomas (grade 2). Immunohistochemical Ki-67 and MCM6 labeling indices (LI) were evaluated independently by two observers.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effectiveness of a new ventilation strategy called time-controlled adaptive ventilation (TCAV) compared to traditional low tidal volume ventilation in pigs with severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
  • While both methods showed similar hemodynamic effects, TCAV resulted in significantly higher levels of total PEEP and lower driving pressure and lung elastance.
  • The conclusion suggests that TCAV does not cause negative hemodynamic effects and may be more beneficial for the lungs compared to conventional protective ventilation in ARDS.

Background: Refractory cardiac arrest management relies on extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR), requiring the use of veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO). Circulatory flow recovery can be associated with an ischemia-reperfusion injury, leading to vasoplegia and vasopressor requirement. The aim of this work was to evaluate the impact on hemodynamics of a methylene blue bolus infusion in a porcine model of ischemic refractory cardiac arrest.

One-step nucleic acid amplification (OSNA) is a molecular procedure used intraoperatively for the detection of sentinel lymph node (SLN) metastases. The aim of the present study was to define a cut-off of cytokeratin (CK)19 mRNA copy number predictive of positive completion axillary lymph node dissection (ALND). The OSNA procedure was employed for SLN analysis in 812 patients with T1-T2 N0 breast cancer.

Article Synopsis
  • * A case study reports a 15-year-old girl who developed severe respiratory distress, cardiac arrest, and blood clotting complications due to a massive pulmonary embolism while being 11 weeks pregnant.
  • * Post-mortem examination revealed multiple blood clots in the lungs, alongside an unusual placental reaction, highlighting a new link between placental issues and fatal pulmonary embolism; this underscores the importance of thorough investigations in similar cases.
