Purpose: This study used contrast sensitivity (CS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) to assess the functional and structural alterations of the macula and the optic nerve head (ONH) in diabetic patients with no retinopathy and those with mild nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR).
Materials And Methods: In this study, 40 eyes of 20 diabetic patients with no diabetic retinopathy (DR), 40 eyes of 20 diabetic patients with mild NPDR, and 36 eyes of 18 healthy individuals were examined. Best-corrected visual acuity (VA) and CS were performed using early treatment DR study charts and the Pelli-Robson chart, respectively.
Background And Aim: Supplementation of AKBISprob (developed in a previous study) in feed can improve production efficiency and poultry health, especially laying hens. In addition, it can also increase cellulolytic lactic acid bacteria (LAB) in chicken intestines, but these bacteria are still unknown; thus, they need to be identified. This study aimed to identify cellulolytic LAB in the intestines of laying hens administered AKBISprob based on 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid (16S rRNA) gene analysis.

Materials And Methods: Samples used were stock tachyzoites DNA from the Parasitology Laboratory, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. Amplified GRA-4 polymerase chain reaction product of tachyzoite DNA was cloned in the pET-SUMO TA cloning vector.
Bakcground And Aim: Testis and epididymis are male reproductive organs that play an important role in spermatogenesis These two organs are rich in the content of hormones and other molecules needed in the process of spermatogenesis which affect the quality of the spermatozoa. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of the administration of epididymis and testicular extracts and their combination on testosterone, pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP), and protamine 1 (PRM1) concentrations in the serum of male chicken.
Materials And Methods: Twenty male chickens (broiler strain Cp707), aged 3 weeks and weighing 800-1000 g, were randomly divided into four different groups including a control group (T0) = injected with 1 ml normal saline and treatment groups: T1 = injected with 1 ml epididymis extract, T2 = injected with 1 ml testicular extract, and T3 = injected with a combination of 1 ml epididymis + 1 ml testicular extract.
Purpose: To compare the results of narrow encircling band surgery with standard encircling scleral buckling for retinal detachments (RDs) with intrabasal or unseen breaks.
Methods: In a retrospective study, eyes with intrabasal or unseen breaks underwent narrow band implantation (group N) or standard encircling buckling plus wide tire placement (group W) and were followed for at least one year.
Results: A total of 112 eyes including 39 eyes in group N and 73 eyes in group W were studied.
Purpose: To measure oxygen tension in the aqueous humor of human eyes under different oxygenation conditions.
Methods: This prospective comparative interventional case series consisted of two parts. In the first part, 120 consecutive patients scheduled for cataract surgery were randomized into group I (control group) in which surgery was performed under local anesthesia inhaling 21% oxygen; group II in whom general anesthesia using 50% oxygen was employed; and group III receiving general anesthesia with 100% oxygen.
