Density fitting techniques that use automatically generated auxiliary basis sets generally rely on the formation of basis function products. Recently, Lehtola [ 2021, 17, 6886-6900] presented a procedure making use of a purely spherical representation by adding auxiliary basis functions coupled to the required angular momentum quantum numbers for the product of spherical harmonics and then removing linear dependencies by means of a Cholesky decomposition. In this work, we extend this idea by making use of the explicit equations for the product of two spherical harmonics in the angular part of the basis function product.

Range-separated hybrid functionals making use of a smooth separation of the Coulomb operator in terms of the error function and its complement have proven to be a valuable tool for improving Kohn-Sham density functional theory (DFT) calculations. This holds in particular for obtaining accurate excitation energies from linear-response time-dependent DFT. In recent years, several environmental pollutants have been monitored in surface waters and sediments. Animals have a long history of assessing ecosystem responses to environmental disturbances, and amphibians stand out for presenting themselves as good animal model and bioindicators of environmental quality. The main purpose of the present work was to investigate the cellular effects of contamination of waters of the Marrecas River, located in the southwest of the state of Paraná, Brazil. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to investigate and monitor the cytotoxic and mutagenic effect, with bullfrog tadpoles, and to discuss these effects with land use along this hydrographic basin.

The histone 3 lysine 79 (H3K79) methyltransferase (HMT) DOT1L is known to play a critical role for growth and survival of -rearranged leukemia. Serendipitous observations during high-throughput drug screens indicated that the use of DOT1L inhibitors might be expandable to multiple myeloma (MM). Through pharmacologic and genetic experiments, we could validate that DOT1L is essential for growth and viability of a subset of MM cell lines, in line with a recent report from another team.

A modular synthesis of Ru(II)-NHC-diamine complexes from readily available chiral N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) and chiral diamines is disclosed for the first time. The well-defined Ru(II)-NHC-diamine complexes show unique structure and coordination chemistry including an unusual tridentate coordination effect of 1,2-diphenylethylenediamine. The isolated air- and moisture-stable Ru(II)-NHC-diamine complexes act as versatile precatalysts for the asymmetric hydrogenation of isocoumarines, benzothiophene 1,1-dioxides, and ketones.

The Areias System, situated in the Atlantic Forest, is considered a hotspot of troglobitic diversity in Brazil. Herein we describe two new sympatric, troglobitic species of Girardia occurring in this system. Both species show minute eyes; one of them has a whitish body, and the other scattered, fine pigmentation over the dorsal surface.

Synthetic biologists have advanced the design of trigger-inducible gene switches and their assembly into input-programmable circuits that enable engineered human cells to perform arithmetic calculations reminiscent of electronic circuits. By designing a versatile plug-and-play molecular-computation platform, we have engineered nine different cell populations with genetic programs, each of which encodes a defined computational instruction. When assembled into 3D cultures, these engineered cell consortia execute programmable multicellular full-adder logics in response to three trigger compounds.

A gas chromatographic/mass spectrometric (GC/MS) method for determining daminozide in high protein products has been developed. Daminozide is hydrolyzed in the presence of a strong base to form unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine (UDMH) which is then distilled from the food matrix. A stable derivative is formed by reacting UDMH with salicyladehyde to form salicyaldehyde dimethylhydrazone.
