Angiosarcomas are rare, highly malignant tumours of vascular origin. They present as fast growing, haematoma-like and diffuse lesions. In this case report, a 71-year-old woman presented with what was assessed as an abscess arising from a traumatic haematoma of the forehead.

Materials/methods: All patients diagnosed with vaginal melanoma from 1980 to 2018 were collected by searching the digital archives of the Danish Registry of Pathology (Patobank). Patient specimens were examined, the histological diagnoses were validated, and targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS) of known frequent hot spots in 163 genes was performed.
Cancer cells are addicted to ribosome biogenesis and high levels of translation. Thus, differential inhibition of cancer cells can be achieved by targeting aspects of ribosome biogenesis or ribosome function. Using RiboMeth-seq for profiling of the ∼112 2'-O-Me sites in human ribosomal RNA, we demonstrated pronounced hypomethylation at several sites in patient-derived diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) cell lines with a more severe perturbation in ABC-DLBCL compared to GBC-DLBCL.

The tumor cells in diffuse large B-cell lymphomas (DLBCL) are considered to originate from germinal center derived B-cells (GCB) or activated B-cells (ABC). Gene expression profiling (GEP) is preferably used to determine the cell of origin (COO). However, GEP is not widely applied in clinical practice and consequently, several algorithms based on immunohistochemistry (IHC) have been developed.

To treat this aggressive disease, R-CHOP, a combination of immunotherapy (R; rituximab) and chemotherapy (CHOP; cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone), remains the most commonly used regimen for newly diagnosed DLBCLs. However, up to one-third of patients ultimately becomes refractory to initial therapy or relapses after treatment, and the high mortality rate highlights the urgent need for novel therapeutic approaches based upon selective molecular targets.

This study aimed to assess global methylation in DLBCL and describe its prognostic value. Mean LINE1 methylation, a validated surrogate measure for global methylation, was measured in DNA from 67 tumor biopsies.

Because preliminary data indicate enrichment of NFKBIE aberrations in other lymphoid malignancies, we screened a large patient cohort (n = 1460) diagnosed with different lymphoid neoplasms. While NFKBIE deletions were infrequent in follicular lymphoma, splenic marginal zone lymphoma, and T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (<2%), slightly higher frequencies were seen in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma, and primary central nervous system lymphoma (3% to 4%).

TP53 mutations (MUT-TP53) were investigated in the context of MIR34A/B/C- and DAPK promoter methylation status, and associated with clinical outcomes in PCNSL patients. In a total of 107 PCNSL patients clinical data were recorded, histopathology reassessed, and genetic and epigenetic aberrations of the p53-miR34-DAPK network studied.

OncomiRs miR-21 and miR-155 have been linked to lymphomagenesis, but information on their implication in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is limited. Here, we used locked nucleic acid-based in situ hybridization (ISH) detection techniques on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded DLBCL tissue samples to identify miR-155 and miR-21 at the cellular level in 56 patients diagnosed with DLBCL, and compared them to miR array data. miR-155 was observed in tumor cells in 19/56 (33.

The aim of this study was to assess the reliability of malignancy grade on core needle biopsies, and to compare the concordance of ER and HER2 status on core needle biopsies vs surgical specimens. Eighty-nine patients with invasive ductal or lobular carcinoma were included.

Objectives: To investigate the effects of cognitively demanding work tasks and office noise on heart rate variability (HRV), cardiovascular responses and electromyography (EMG) activity in the trapezius muscles.
Methods: Ten female volunteers were exposed to simulated open-plan office noise for 35 min (Leq 65 dBA), while engaged in cognitively demanding tasks. Task performance, self-rated stress and energy, affective state, perceived exertion in the shoulders and in the head, EMG in the left and right trapezius muscle, blood pressure, heart period length, HRV, and salivary cortisol were measured.
Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is in theory more physically and mentally demanding than open surgery. This aspect is due to the inherent limits of MIS. The implementation of high-technological operating rooms and the development of ergonomically more useful instruments have not been documented scientifically, nor has the question of whether or not MIS is a contributing problem in itself in the surgeon's work been documented.
