We report a unique case of a 44-year-old man with paraneoplastic hyperparathyroidism due to an oncocytic adrenocortical carcinoma (stage pT3N0R0M0, ENSAT 2 with a 4% Ki-67). Paraneoplastic hyperparathyroidism was associated with mild adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)-independent hypercortisolism and increased estradiol secretion responsible for gynecomastia and hypogonadism. Biological investigations performed in blood samples from peripheral and adrenal veins revealed that the tumor secreted parathyroid hormone (PTH) and estradiol.

In this study, we performed microRNA (miRNA) expression profiling on a large series of sporadic and hereditary forms of medullary thyroid carcinomas (MTC). More than 60 miRNAs were significantly deregulated in tumor vs adjacent non-tumor tissues, partially overlapping with results of previous studies. We focused our attention on the strongest up-regulated miRNA in MTC samples, miR-375, the deregulation of which has been previously observed in a variety of human malignancies including MTC.

The Weiss score is the reference method to distinguish between a benign and a malignant adrenocortical tumor (ACT). A program was initiated to improve the reproducibility of the pathologic diagnosis of ACTs in France through the National INCa-COMETE Network. Twelve pathologists from all Reference Centers of the Network analyzed 50 selected ACTs using a web-based virtual microscopy approach in a blind design, allowing to determine the intraobserver and interobserver reproducibilities of the Weiss system.

In 10% of the patients with chronic abnormal alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels no cause is found. The prognosis of this liver disease, the increased risk of liver fibrosis regardless of the types of histological lesions and the need for a liver biopsy are unknown. Nearly 50% of these cases are explained by non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

Most of the primary thyroid malignant lymphomas have been considered of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) type and arise from lymphocytic thyroiditis. We report an uncommon case of a 67-yr-old man who underwent total thyroidectomy for multinodular goiter with tracheal compression. At histopathologic examination, we discovered a minute (3-mm diameter) lesion of low-grade thyroid lymphoma of MALT type without any lymphocytic thyroiditis lesion on 33 section levels of the entire thyroid gland.
