Objectives: Before vaccines and effective treatments were available, quarantine of close contacts was important to limit the spread of SARS-CoV-2. To evaluate potential benefits and harms of quarantine, we aimed to estimate infection rates and describe experiences and mental health among persons in mandated quarantine during the early SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

Methods: We invited adults in mandated quarantine after an exposure to SARS-CoV-2 identified through contact tracing of the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland, between August 2020 and January 2021.

Cancer Screening - Prerequesites for a Successful and Meaningful Screening Program Benefits and harms of cancer screening should be carefully assessed based on evidence, put into local context and weighed against each other. The success of cancer screening programs depends on many factors beyond the evidence, such as participation rates, the organization and the quality of the program. This article highlights the epidemiologic prerequisites for a cancer screening and explains how a successful screening program is designed.

Drug-induced toxicity is a significant problem in clinical care. A key problem here is a general understanding of the molecular mechanisms accompanying the transition from desired drug effects to adverse events following administration of either therapeutic or toxic doses, in particular within a patient context. Here, a comparative toxicity analysis was performed for fifteen hepatotoxic drugs by evaluating toxic changes reflecting the transition from therapeutic drug responses to toxic reactions at the cellular level.
