Prcis: Optic nerve head (ONH) changes were detected with swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) after intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowering glaucoma surgeries.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to detect changes in the ONH with SS-OCT after IOP-lowering procedures.

Patients And Methods: Patients with progressing glaucoma who were referred for IOP-lowering procedures were included.

Purpose: To characterize patients with suspected glaucoma who were referred to the clinic for suspected glaucoma in a tertiary public hospital in southern Brazil and to evaluate differences in functional and structural damages between patients diagnosed with different types of glaucoma, those with normal eye examination results, and those who remained as glaucoma suspects.

Methods: This is a cohort study of patients referred by general ophthalmologists to the clinic for suspected glaucoma at Hospital Nossa Senhora da Conceição, Porto Alegre, Brazil, between March 2016 and December 2018. The patients were followed up until they had undergone reliable examinations (eye examination, visual field screening, and optic coherence tomography for classification as normal and having a suspected glaucoma, glaucoma with an elevated intraocular pressure, normotensive glaucoma, or ocular hypertension.

Peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCLs) are a heterogeneous group of aggressive neoplasms. The involvement of ocular structures in haematological neoplasms is rare and usually associated with central nervous system involvement, which may occur as a result of orbital invasion and optic nerve infiltration. In this case report, we describe ocular findings using the novel swept source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) in a case of aggressive T-cell lymphoma.

Purpose: To evaluate differences in the thickness of the individual macular layers between early, moderate, and severe glaucomatous eyes and compare them with healthy controls.

Patients And Methods: Subjects with glaucoma presenting typical optic nerve head findings, high intraocular pressure with or without visual field (VF) damage and normal controls were included. All participants underwent 24-2 perimetry and spectral-domain OCT.

The diagnosis of angle-closure glaucoma secondary to iridociliary cysts is challenging and lacks compiled literature support. We present a rare case of bilateral angle-closure glaucoma associated with pseudoplateau iris due to multiple ciliary cysts and conducted a systematic review of the literature to find similar case reports published between November 2006 and November 2016. Only 19 case reports present treatment modalities, and most cases required more than one therapeutic approach for controlling the intraocular pressure.

Background: Retinal arterial narrowing is associated with higher office blood pressure (BP) and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and increased incidence of cardiovascular disease, but it is still unknown if the vessel caliber is associated with BP measured at the time of retinography acquisition.

Methods: Retinal arteriolar and venular calibers were measured by the microdensitometric method in 448 patients with hypertension. Participants underwent 24-hours ambulatory blood pressure (24-h ABP) monitoring simultaneously with the retinography acquisition.

Circulating adiponectin has been related to vascular diseases, but few studies examined the relationship between plasma adiponectin and microvascular abnormalities among hypertensive individuals. We tested the association between plasma adiponectin level and retinal vessel calibers in patients with hypertension. This study included 172 patients with confirmed hypertension, aged 18-80 years.

Purpose: Computer-assisted methods to measure retinal vessel diameters have been incorporated into research, but it is not clear which component of the vessels they are measuring. This study was conducted to compare measurements of retinal vessel diameter by using imaging-processing software on color fundus photographs (FPs) and fluorescein angiographs (FAs).

Methods: FP and FA images were taken simultaneously in 52 eyes of 31 patients referred for angiography for diagnosis of retinal disease.

Purpose: To investigate optical coherence tomography (OCT) measurements of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness change associated with elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) over a period of time, and to compare in vivo OCT RNFL thickness measurements with morphologic measurements of the same tissues.

Methods: One eye of each of 12 cynomolgus monkeys was treated with argon laser to the anterior chamber angle to induce elevated IOP. OCT measurements were made weekly in the treated and the contralateral eyes of each monkey for 14 weeks after the laser insult.

Background: Retinal abnormalities, particularly arteriolar narrowing, are powerful predictors of cardiovascular events. The precision of internists and ophthalmologists in the assessment of retinal vessels widths has been disputed but not evaluated against a technology of edge detection.

Methods: Fifty-two patients with hypertension had optic fundi examination done by an internist and an ophthalmologist, and had retinographies taken and digitized to determine vessel diameters by a new technology of edge detection (microdensitometric method).

Background: The extent of arteriolar narrowing has been recognized as a major sign of end-organ damage in patients with hypertension, but most methods used for its evaluation are highly dependent on the observer. We describe a new semi-automated method to measuring arteriolar-to-venous (A/V) ratio in retinal photography and present its application in the evaluation of patients with hypertension.

Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 58 patients with hypertension had retinographies taken and digitized to determine the vessel diameter by direct measurement (micrometric method) or by the new microdensitometric method.

Purpose: To evaluate the hypothesis that macular thickness correlates with the diagnosis of glaucoma.

Design: Cross-sectional study.

Participants: We studied 367 subjects (534 eyes), including 166 eyes of 109 normal subjects, 83 eyes of 58 glaucoma suspects, 196 eyes of 132 early glaucoma patients, and 89 eyes of 68 advanced glaucoma patients.
