A multifunctional aviation aluminum alloy with good superhydrophobicity and corrosion resistance was prepared by a two-step process of etching followed by polymer modification. Meanwhile, micro- and nanostructures formed on the processed sample. Compared with bare sample, the static liquid contact angle on the as-prepared sample was increased by 100.

A fundamental understanding of the nucleation and growth behaviors of Zn metal anodes over a wide range of temperatures is of great value for suppressing Zn dendrite growth. However, work focused on the early nucleation and growth behavior of Zn metal at various temperatures is still absent. Here, we study the effect of cycling temperature on Zn nuclei size and areal density and find that low temperature induces a smaller and dense nucleus, which prevents the formation of dendrites.

Objective: To explore the mechanism of proteasome inhibitor MG132 in improving osteoporosis.

Methods: Total of 32 female SD rats, weighing 220 to 250 g and 8 weeks old, were selected. They were randomly divided into 4 groups(n=8).

Article Synopsis
  • Stem cell transplantation shows promise for spinal cord repair, but challenges like limited sources and immune rejection hinder progress.
  • Researchers induced urine cells to become induced pluripotent stem cells and then neural stem cells, using 3D printed scaffolds for transplantation in a mouse model of spinal cord injury.
  • Results indicated that the transplantation of these stem cells improved recovery in mice, and silencing the GAS5 gene appeared to limit the repair effects.

The role of autophagy in the transplantation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)-derived neural stem cells (NSCs) to treat spinal cord injury (SCI) and neurogenic bladder was investigated in this study. NSCs derived from human iPSCs were identified by and immunofluorescence assay. To clarify the role of autophagy, iPSCs were treated with either an autophagy inducer (rapamycin), or an autophagy inhibitor (chloroquine).

Objective: To evaluate the clinical outcome of intelligent inflated reduction combined with percutaneous pedicle screw fixation in treating thoracolumbar burst fractures.

Methods: The clinical data of 22 patients with thoracolumbar burst fractures of single segment treated from January 2013 to December 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 12 males and 10 females, aged from 32 to 56 years old with an average of (42.

Background: Poor mechanical properties, undesirable fast dissolution rate, and lack of antibacterial activity limit the application of hydroxyapatite (HA) as an implant coating material. To overcome these limitations, a hybrid coating of Ag-substituted fluorhydroxyapatite and titania nanotube (TNT) was prepared.

Methods: The incorporation of silver into the HA-TiO hybrid coating improves its antimicrobial properties.

Objective: To investigate the surgical outcome of unilateral pedicle screw(UPS) after TLIF technique combined with contralateral percutaneous transfacet screw(PTS) fixation vs bilateral pedicle screws(BPS) fixation in treatment of degenerative lumbar disease.

Methods: From January 2009 to June 2012, 46 patients with degenerative lumbar diseases, including 30 males and 16 females with an average age of 51.5 years old, who were divided into two groups according to different fixation methods.

Background: Two frequent problems associated with titanium (Ti) surfaces of bone/dental implants are their corrosion and lack of native tissue integration.

Methods: Here, we present an anodization-hydrothermal method for coating Ti surfaces with a layer of silicon (Si)- and strontium (Sr)-loaded titania nanotubes (TNs). The Ti surfaces coated with such a layer (Si-Sr-TNs) were characterized with different techniques.

Objective: To compare the treatment results between Endobutton plate and clavicular hook plate for the treatment of acromioclavicular joint dislocations.

Methods: From January 2009 to September 2010, 30 patients with acromioclavicular joint dislocations were treated with two different fixations: Endobutton plate (15 patients, including 12 males and 3 females, with a mean age of 38.5 +/- 8.
